The Guildan Union

Spoiler :
lavacity_v3_1k.jpg

Five races evolved from the primordial matter of the Hzarrath system, distributed across the three Core Planets. Their union was forged through blood and sword, pen and treaty. After centuries of isolation from one another, the isolated race of the Khorein achieved spaceflight, and in doing so, revolutionized the system. As each planet achieved unity, battles began being fought over lucrative moons and gravity-neutral points at which to sustain ongoing population booms. The fiercest battle fought, the Battle of Enghoy, resulted in the deaths of 3 million individuals; a nuclear device planted by the Ferias-Jkel Federation destroyed 2 Khorein colonies, whose debris impacted the cities upon Enghoy (a moon). Due to this bloodshed, the wars were quickly stopped; treaties signed; and finally, out of the blood of 3 million, came the Guildan Union. The merchant guilds which ran the economies of the Khorein and Jkel (the most powerful races) fought over every last word of the treaties; finally, they agreed to support the new government, with one provision. Every decade, during the election of a new Secretary-General of the Union, the many guilds bicker and choose a Guildmaster; this person is endowed with the power to command the merchant navies and private militaries, and to lead the collective Union economy. Controversial as the position is, it also ensures stability. However, due to the internal (and sometimes violent) conflict between the many guilds and races, the Guildmaster is prone to assassination and usually spends more time in internal affairs rather than external threats. The Union, though, has collectively mastered the art of the City; that is, over time, each planet has become a true megalopolis; efficiency and growing populations have created planet-scale cities. The largest and most affluent is New Thyrena, the site of the Guild Council and Planetary Congress.

if your interested I could list some civilizations from Galactic Civilizations 2, along with background info. Not sure but might be able to get some art from it as well, just say so if your interested.

Triad Virtual Democracy

The Triad consist of three allied races who protect and share friendship with each other: the advanced Dauthi, the innovative Prawla, and the aggressive Omxxthi. Each culture entwines with the other, common history and partnership drawing them together. All three races live together in harmony on Aquxx, their home planet. The Prawla live in palacial underwater cities, the Omxxthi on the land and rivers, while the Dauthi live in beautiful domed aquatic cities in the clouds.

The Dauthi are an advanced aquatic dying race of octopoids, unable to propagate. To replenish their numbers, they resort to cloning, but each time one of them is cloned, it represents a flawed copy. For all their advanced technology, the Dauthi can not stop themselves from becoming extinct (scholars predict they will be extinct in 10000 years). When a Dauthi goes feral (the result of imperfect cloning, or emotional degregation) they are no longer Dauthi, shuned by their own race for the shame it brings. Their is no cure for feral Dauthi - the ostricised victim is banished, dumped on a wayward planet to meke out the rest of their savage existence. The feral victim is pitied in Dauthi society, and each occurance is a slap in the face as The Rot sets in to claim its intellectual victim.

The Dauthi had once colonised many systems, but now their esteemed empire is forever shrinking, as one by one, their numbers (and even sometimes entire colonies if measures are not taken to isolate victims in time) succumb to The Rot. Known throughout the universe as an isolationist, powerful, and advanced race, the Dauthi keep to themselves and ward off the Chaos Incursions that border their shrinking territory. It is not known why the Dauthi would suddenly share their power with two fledgling races, but theorists suggest common history between the three is the factor. All three species share a common ancestor, and the ability to pass on their knowledge to their children (the Dauthi pass on their knowledge via cloning, while feral Dauthi become savage).

The Prawla are an upcoming aquatic race of crustaceans to make their destiny on the known universe. Innovative and inquistive of science has catapulted them to a golden age. A numerous species, the universe is yet to see a Prawla outside of their television bubble, and are considered a conundrum. They are a huge aquatic race or voracious appetite and aggressive xenophobic cultural tendancies. However, when they are encountered outside their territory they are semi-pacifistic, secretive, and shrewd diplomats and traders. The only witnesses to actual visual negoitiations with this species are their allies - the aggressive Omxxthi and the advanced Dauthi - who protect their secretive nature. The Prawla are most universally famous for their soap dramas on television, and they are the leading directoral talent (by far) in the universe.

The Prawla are very easily rattled by fear and by acts of compassion towards their citizens or allies. The Prawla fear one thing above all else - the Eater Below. These monolithic kraken-like solitary creatures have terrorised their culture and motivated advancements in their technology. Even though the Prawla have the means now to deal with their ancestral horror, it is not uncommon to hear that numerous citizens (and even sometimes entire colonies) have been terrorised and eliminated by this threat.

The Omxxthi are philosophical, aggressive, and primitive. They are huge worm-like amphibians who surprisingly have developed a harmonous language, beautiful and haunting. It is a widely known that the Omxxthi are the most haunting predator - you know when they are close, and at least you hear a good symphony before you die. The Omxxthi culture is driven by hunting, culinary tastes, harmonic developments, and philosophy. How such an aggressive creature be one of the universes leading philosophers astounds many scientists.

Omxxthi were once aquatic, but when their favourite delicacy came to land, they followed and been there since. For something so big, they are surprisingly stealthy hunters when they wish to be - able to travel almost as quickly above ground as they can burrow underground. Lazy swimmers, it was easy for them to neglect the bounties of the sea, as tastier prey were are on the land (during lean times, they resort to "fishing"). If you cant hunt prey down and enjoy it with the best spices, its not worth eating it.

Focus: Mostly science, and citizens are generally happy. Their military is strong but few in number, with the few being very advanced and powerful (suggest +25% cost and +25% power). The few foot-troops are imensely strong but also few in number (and god help you if the Omxxthi think you are a delicacy). Diplomacy and trade is good after initial embarassing blunders - distrustful of civs when first met (-2: "No diplomatic history with us"), higher values to open border aggreements resulting trusting relations (up to +6 over time). In times of war, they suffer from higher war weariness. Maybe a +1 diplomacy bonus towards them for certain civs ("We love your tv shows!") or give the Triad a "Tv resource" or something that makes +1 happy. The Dauthi are psionic, and the Omxxthi have low resistance to psionics.

History is attached, interesting read ;). Had to zip it (cant upload an .rtf)

WOW! I go away for 2 days and all these ideas appear :D

I don't have much time to read them today (got a busy few days on my hands). I'll be back on Wednesday to discuss ideas and such! You are all welcome to help out! I like the look of these ideas floating around :)

Robert Can't... what's with the pigs? lol. If this were normal civ they'd have a thing or two to say about those pig pastures ;)

Gooblah... I've always loved Coruscant... it's my favourite sci-fi planet (in fact if you look at the tech tree, you'll see a wonder called The Galactic Jewel, which is mean't to represent completely urbanised planet; bar those ice caps ;)).

As I said, I'll properly read through these ideas when I'm done with all this work :)

The "phase I" tech tree is complete (though needs a LOT of refinement). If anyone has any ideas regarding the tech tree then please let me know :D

Dont worry the pigs die killed of by an alience of humans and Terinians
but the trees survive as always

The Tererians

The Tererians are often known as the "Monopolists of space travel" they are one of the most greedy spices ever and will do anythig to becombe rich And were the first Inteligent life forms(excluding the Red Tail Colective) To Reach inter-stelar travel there empire of shipyards is spread wide across our sector. There ships are by far the fastest and the strongest but bieng usualy peacfull biengs they never developed a good weapon system and the weapons on there ships are primative at best. Even though the ships they biuld come in 3 types 1 with high up small controlls (the stature of Tererians is high up with there arms not being able to rech far down they are much more suited to doing there work when it is above them),Human sized controls and controls That are low down and are large (even thogh The new earth federation stand on there hind legs they are still short and have big trotters). The Terinians have developed a new kind of engine that can take them far in a short time but the real reason for these is to move the Ship worlds, the ship worlds are large ships the size of planets wich the terinians live on there own planet was distroyed many centurys ago when the core blew up causing a large explosion. the Tererian empire has over 800 systems under its control althogh The main space usage is ship manufacturing.

Focus:Speed, money, Productivity And More money Mabey they get 1+ shield (or producion or hammeer of whatever) and ships are much faster but not verry strong also the Terinians could start the game with an extra tech. you could like make a city that moved around(is that possible) To represent the ship worlds also they could have a shipyard in every city or somthing of that ilk to represent the fact that there "ship biulding freaks" Comander Rose Josh (Also known to her freinds as Rogan Josh)

And Frezyslave I can read your mind you are from New Zeland

I thought of a way to implement the Federation.

In the Governments category, add a civic: City-States.
In the tech tree, add two Federation-only Techs: Drome Construction and Drome Revitalization

The two techs found Drome-only "Ideologies": Construction and Revitalization. The Federation is split into two Civilizations at the beginning: Federation C and Fedreation R, each with 10 dromes, and each Drome having the respective Ideology. Now, the Empires are at peace. However, they can go to war, trade, etc. If you declare war on one Federation, you declare war on the other, unless they are at war.

Dromes can construct Propagandists, who can go to other Dromes of the other side, and spread their Ideology. If they are successful, the Drome defects to the other Civilization. Thus, we simulate alliances waning and waxing. It also forces Propagandists to be built in order to control resources the other Federation has.

Federation C Dromes have the ability to construct new units at a faster rate, while Federation R Dromes have a greater healing rate and speed.

Kingdom of Eden

The descendants of 2000 colonists, the humans of Eden claim to be the only true descendants of God. The first colonization attempt by humanity, the Edenites crash-landed on their target; after the fusion reactors went offline, the radiation slowly seeped through the populace and the planet. Eventually, the Edenites began experiencing serious birth defects amongst the population; in each generation, rates of infant mortality and mutation increased exponentially, until, in the 100th generation, a massive genetic shift occured. After centuries of mutation buildup, raw variation exposed itself in the form of mutants. The Children of Eden had been born with various powers, including psychokinesis and pyrokinesis. Quickly overthrowing the old order, the Children established a theocracy bent on exterminating all those that did not meet the qualifications to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, based on the old Bibles that still existed.

After re-discovering space exploration, Edenites made contact with true humans, still part of the Homo sapiens sapiens species; the Children of Eden had long since branched off into another species.

Focus: Religion, war. The Edenites gain happiness and other benefits by spreading their religion; if another religion achieves dominance, then the people grow angry; by adopting another religion, one will face the full wrath of Eden.

Hmm. More ideas... (WE NEED A COVENANT!!!!)

Backstory: Kingdom of Eden

And on the fifth day of creation, it was decided to name the planet Eden. Five days after the landing of our ancestors came the great ceremony of Discovery and Naming. In the ritual manner, the Holy Vessel was adorned with the sacred images; the sign of the Holy Cross drawn thrice upon it, and finally, the High Priest, our leader, Sharrud of Eden, stepped forth and gave name to our home.

Excerpt from the Third Testament, Bible of Eden.

The first colonial venture equipped with fusion engines and trans-light capabilities ended in failure. The colony ship Druze I, launched from the spaceport of Old Canaan on Earth was launched in the year 2103 AD. Three long months later, the onboard AI experienced total failure; shoddy work on the spacecraft resulted in little backup options, and the humans of Druze I hurtled through the atmosphere of the planet Eden, orbiting the star Sigma 6. Finally, the colony vessel landed on the continent of Abraham, the 3,000 colonists thrown from their life-support units onto the grasses below the ship. Five hours after The Landing, it was determined that the fusion engines had almost breached the protective layers; final meltdown would occur in 2 hours. As radiation seeped through the area, a team of volunteers rushed the ship, salvaging what they could. The pastor Sharrud discovered a copy of the Holy Bible. Believing this to be a miracle, he ran out to celebrate his discovery. 20 minutes later, after final evacuations were complete, the critical mass was reached, and the reactors blew. Only 2,298 of the original Colonists survived. Lamenting the loss of all communications equipment, they set out to explore their new land, all the while recording their struggles as the Chosen People into what became the Third Testament. Through the centuries, the old technologies were rediscovered, and the 3 continents of Eden (Abraham, Joseph, and Isaac) were settled. Something, however, was amiss. Due to the limited gene pool and the radiation which swept over the Colonists, new alleles and mutations had surfaced. Through generations of inbreeding and resettling, the Edenites found themselves confronted with odd occurences. Studies taken indicated a latent ability of pyro- and psychokinesis amongst each generation, manifesting themselves in the 100th generation. This generation, viewing their powers as a sign from God, overthrew their fathers and established the Kingdom of Eden - a theocratic monarchy reminiscent of that of olden-day Spain. As spaceflight was rediscovered, the Edenites began settling their system and nearby planets; finally, contact was made with other humans. Upon discovering these humans did not follow the Third Testament, war was declared. Study of captured enemies revealed the truth to Eden. Eden was not populated with humans...no, it was populated with a new species: Homo sapiens validus.

Backstory: The Federation

It was foretold in the Prophecies of Nyaroth that the world would eventually crumble; that the planet on which the Federation developed would be destroyed in a fiery death. However, the threat of such destruction did not unite the religious Federation...instead, it drove them apart. Clans warred constantly, leaders fought leaders, and peace became an unattainable goal. It was only in the sixth millenium after the Prophecies were written, after rudimentary space travel became possible, that the warring ceased. The clans, now large empires sprawling along continents, had a habit of kidnapping scientists and engineers from other areas to fund their own research. These same scientists had developed plans for a large telescope to monitor the rocky comets and asteroids which darted past their planet. The largest empire, the Veiled Kingdom, launched the spacecraft. Within a decade, it became apparent: unless measures were taken, the planet on which Federation society developed would be destroyed by a comet the size of a small moon. Suddenly aware of their own mortality, generations of the Federation put aside old enmities to work on preserving their culture and their planet. Investment in space travel and research quintupled overnight after the announcement. Plans were drawn up to construct massive metallic spheres, each to hold more than 10 million individuals. The larger the empire, the more powerful and large the Drome. Finally, when the 20th Drome was constructed from the raw materials found in the asteroid belt and moons within the system, the Dromes were launched. Two months later, the asteroid N'Kuthanneth rocketed into the system, was captured by the planet's gravity, and made contact with the surface. The planet's fate remains unknown.

The Dromes moved through nearby, explored space, looking for a habitable environment. Tensions between the many Dromes increased, however, when the question of their sustainability arose.. What if a new home could not be found? The Dromes could not support that many individuals for too long. They were built to last for 20 generations. What then? 10 Dromes favored the construction of new spheres from the materials distributed in the galaxy. The other half favored constant revitalization of the Dromes. The ideological differences grew until civil war broke out in the eighth millenium. After two decades, peace was declared, and the two factions split from another. The Drome still wander the galaxy, looking for a planet similar enough to their own to settle. They have made contact with various races on the way, but have not made the ultimate discovery yet.

The Great Empire of The Old Delenthians(pronounced Del-en-the-ans)

The Delethian Empire once streched across the whole galaxy. It was an Unstoppable Force Thair Vast armardas of Super advanced craft swept across everything in thair way. There ships were made with the purpous of Distroying agressors all at once rather than one at a time they specialised in weapons that had a area of effect so disroying multiple enemys with this tacktic they biult the greatest empire ever. But If you rule over a vast empire then some people will want to break off and one day they will have the means. The Tererians ancestors were called the Tash and they wanted to Break away from the empire. They developed the first kind of Tererian ship it was called the Teren mk1 ,the home planet of the tererians was teren even thogh it later was no more. The teren mk1 was fast enugh to avoid the slow ships of the empire but it still was often distroyed by the area of effect weapons. But then a Inovative commander called G'nreck developed a new strategy to beat the empire this was to dispese there ships out so the area of effect weapons used by the empire were not as effective. The Tererians now changed there name from the Tash to The Tererians. The tererian empire became massive stretching over almost all of the Delenthian empire. The Delenthian empire asked for Peace and they got it but a splinter cell started a operation called operation Bubble. The purpouse of this was to Split the core of teren and unfortunatly It worked. The reminants of the delenthian Empire fled. and settled on a remote planet called none other than pluto a planet in our solar system but both nations were unable to detect each other and so never met until now. The delenhians were very Isolationistic and althogh there millitery technology was great they never again went to war. after this they lived and prospered for meleniums(or whatever the plural is) Until they thoght the tererians had forgot about teren. unfortunatly they hadn't but both nations wanted to make amends and so nothing like a war or anything drastic ever happened.

The Delenthians and the Tererians. I can't Think of anything to wright here so...

I Wont Wright any more.:smug:

Another thing that isn't really importaint but you might want a tech called Theoretical science and then the quote could be.

"Not Impossible, Just Inconceivable. Thats what I say or at least in theory"

Okay, currently we have 19 Civs:

Spoiler :
1) The Belvian Union
2) The Holy Empire of Scarthia
3) The Phelwaan
4) The Latesshii Conglomerate
5) The Te'lesh
6) The Szel'raa Matriarchy
7) The Zha’khae’zeknea
8) The Deranarii Empire
9) The Veriaroul Conglomerate
10) The Ssaer
11) The Zekstaliz Council
12) The Kherion Empire
13) The Federation
14) The Sus Scrofa Sollers
15) The Guildan Union
16) Triad Virtual Democracy
17) The Tererians
18) Kingdom of Eden
19) The Great Empire of the Old Delenians

I think that's enough, guys. We might be able to merge Eden and Scarthia, making it a round 18 (like the vanilla Civ4 release). I have time for the next week, so I can write Civilopedia Entries for a few of these Empires. I have (above) done this for Eden and the Federation, and expanded the G.U entry as well.

Edit: I put some thought into Religion. How about scrapping the concept in favor of 'Ideology"? Here's a short list:
Constructionism (Federation-C only)
Revitilizationism (Federation-R only)
New-Age Catholicism (Eden only)
Commercialism (+1 commerce per trade route, +25% gold per city)
Militarism (+50% military unit production, +25% unhappiness, -2 attitude with Civilizations following Entente)
Expansionism (+50% Colony Ship, Escort production, +10% happiness, -3 attitude with all bordering nations)
Entente (+3 attitude with all leaders, +100% production of Ideologist)

The Bank

Located in the heart of humanity this Gigantic Biulding Stands, But more than that It is a whole planet. Thriveing Because of the Money. Each day Bilions of pounds (Stirling £) come in and out of the Bank in gold bullion. Without the bank Not only The Nation Controling it but all others would find there economy ruined and there money stolen Because "The Bank" also was a stroghold and no thief ever made it out alive.

This corporation could posibly make money or somthing else like that.

Whoops, sorry Robert. I'll change it.

Corporations will be hard to implement. IIRC, in Final Frontier there were only a few resources. I think we'll have to add some:

Iron, Aluminum, Copper, Silicon, Uranium, Deuterium, Hydrogen, Helium

The latter 4 represent fuels, the former building materials. Food resources should be implemented as planets with tons of food (20?). By building a Space Elevator and Docks along with a Granary and Planetary Transport on the planet, once could transfer that food to other systems that are linked by trade routes.
