Upcoming polls

Not that I am an adocate of the Tugboat but giving 2 choices will undoubtly lower its chances of winning. The correct spelling is Theodore btw.
That's why we do run off polls. That way if the Tugboat choices combined would have won, but lose on their own, that would mean the other choices would have less than 50% of the vote.
I would assume the results from the two Tugboats would be combined.
probably Not necessary, see above

OK so we can do this two ways it seems. We can either:

A. Have one poll to decide whether Turnplayers pick the names or any AMAZON can pick the names, followed by another poll to decide what the parameters of choosing names will be (ie., Anything you want, or Amazon names, or Cartoon characters)

B. Have one poll which includes all the options at once.

The reason to break it up into two polls is so that there are not too many "Anyone Picks" options, reducing the chance that "Anyone Picks" could win.

This is how Option 'A' would look:

1st Poll:
Spoiler :
Unit Naming Poll - Military Units - Turn 30

Who Shall Name Our Military Units?

1. Turnplayer Picks
2. Anyone Picks, First Come First Served
3. Suggestions followed by a Poll (if needed)

Explanation of Choices
Who picks?
Turnplayer Picks - Naming the units would be up to the Turnplayer. Other AMAZONs could still offer suggestions.

Anyone Picks, First Come First Served - The first AMAZON to suggest a name for a unit will get the unit named what they suggested, as long as the suggested name is within the name choice parameters.

Suggestions followed by a Poll (if needed) - AMAZONs can suggest names for units. If multiple names suggested are within name choice parameters, then we will have a poll to decide which name wins. This is how we currently handle unit naming.
2nd Poll:
Spoiler :
Unit Naming Poll - Military Units - Turn 34

What Names are Acceptable for Our Military Units?

1. Amazon Names
2. Cartoon Characters
3. Whatever they want

Name Choice Parameters
Amazon Names - Lord Civius posted a link to an alphabetical list of famous Amazons in the "Unit Names" thread. Unit names would have to come from this list. We could use numbering so that the names on the list don't run out (ie., Hippolyta I, Hippolyta II, etc.)

Cartoon Characters - Names would have to be a Cartoon Charater, or Children's show Character.

Whatever they want - Names could be anything that does not offend or violate forum rules.

This is how Option 'B' would look:

Spoiler :
Unit Naming Poll - Military Units - Turn 30

How Shall We Name Our Military Units?

1. Turnplayer Picks - Amazon Names
2. Turnplayer Picks - Cartoon Characters
3. Turnplayer Picks - Whatever they want
4. Anyone Picks, First Come First Served - Amazon Names
5. Anyone Picks, First Come First Served - Cartoon Characters
6. Anyone Picks, First Come First Served - Whatever they want
7. Suggestions followed by a Poll (if needed) - Amazon Names
8. Suggestions followed by a Poll (if needed) - Cartoon Characters

Feel free to weigh in about which choice seems the most fair, easiest to follow, etc.:)

Here are the techs that will be available after Mysticism. I will be posting the tech poll today unless Poll Master Norton does it.;):please:

Masonry - 5 Turns, 119:science:
Sailing - 7 Turns, 149:science:
The Wheel - 5 Turns, 89:science:
Writing - 8 Turns, 179:science:
Iron Working - 15 Turns, 299:science:
Archery - 4 Turns, 89:science:
Horseback Riding - 16 Turns, 373:science:
Meditation
Polytheism

I did not check the :science: numbers for Meditation or Polytheism, but either one would get us an early religion.

I'm back :) Thanks for posting the polls in my absence! I see the second city name poll is already online, I'll make the tech poll now...

The next tech poll has been up for three days. Ordinarily the poll would probably be closed by now. Poll Master Norton, can you please post a run-off poll between Sailing and Polytheism. maybe you could also post in the current poll to say that it is closed for voting/please vote in the run off poll.:)

Do we need a new build poll, or have I missed it?

Do we need a new build poll, or have I missed it?

I think we definitely do, especially with contact with Sirius changing things.

We need a run-off poll for the City 2 name. We still have a couple turns for the settler to reach the city site so a 2 day poll should be fine, as long as Poll Master Norton gets it up today. This is likely to be a close vote, so I would not want to name the city in-game until an actual name is chosen.

The workboat is already almost finished. I am putting up the next building poll today. Does this list include all options?

worker
settler
warrior
work boat
barracks
monument
stonehenge

This has been mentioned before... but we don't necessarily NEED to poll EVERY next build. The reason we polled the wb thing was because it was a deviation from what we had already agreed to do... ie a worker after the settler.

That being said, I dont object to polling the next build if others want to... If we don't poll, I was just going to return to the original SH plan and build a worker next... Although I guess we probably want a galley when Sailing finishes...

Fair enough... polling every build would be too hectic anyways. I would like to point out however that we are now proceeding towards building the SH without any voting, either from the micro side (what to build next) or the macro side (when and where do we want which wonder).

There seems to be lot of support for SH so I don't see a problem here. I am just pointing it out because as poll master I guess I should defend the peoples right to vote on important stuff. Also, in the future there may come situations in which the amount of support for a certain line of progress is not so clear.

It's true, we never took a vote on building Stonehenge. I think we definitely should, because we are AMAZONs, an AMAZONs vote on every important issue, regardless of whether most people seem to like the Stonehenge idea. I know voting for Mysticism was kinda-sorta a vote for Stonehenge, but it still isn't, and I think a poll needs to be done specifically for this matter.
