Crazy in the right way...
I manually updated my monitor (I hear the PNP defaults from MS don't work with Civ3) and I downloaded my display adapter's driver from the manufacturer site, but it won't install manually. I tried the automatic button in the Driver Update window, but it says the one in use is the best one. (yeah sure...)
My Display adapter is an S3 ProSavage. I got the files from the S3 Inc. site, for XP platform, generic (since the specific model wasn't specified.) Any wiz's out there who know why the S3 driver isn't any better than the one already used?
Or should I copy the executable to a specific location (like the system32 folder?) would it make a difference?
I can't play this game anymore! I was playing fine for a long time, then reformatted, and now it won't work!
