Updating on Steam with no Internet

I would really like to update Civ 4 BtS from 3.17 to 3.19. I bought the game through Steam, but I currently have no Internet on that computer. I have been unable to find a patch I can just download and transfer over there. Does such a thing exist? If not, would it be possible to transfer the correct files from this laptop (which has an updated version of BtS through Steam) to my desktop computer?

Not yet. I thought what I needed was out there, and I just couldn't find it. Does that mean such a patch does not exist? Is this the sort of problem only they will be able to help me with?

unfortunately, yes - the update they push is only available through their software client as far as I know and it has definitely not been published. Since the normal patches don't work with steam software you need to get theirs - so they will be the ones that can help you (if they offer it as a separate download).

I contacted Steam, and they said the only way to get the patch is to connect to Steam online.

I am going to try and copy over all of the files from my (this) laptop into the proper Steam directory on my desktop. I hope it works. I am worried that because my laptop uses Vista (the Japanese version) and my desktop uses XP (the American version) there will be a problem, but it is a risk I am willing to take.
