Does anyone know how they figure out the cost of upgrading a unit to another unit is.

do they use the factor of 4 gold equals 1 shield like in money rushing. then they use that formula to convert the amount of shields needed to build the new unit and then convert into money and that is the upgrade cost. or is it they find the difference between the upgrading unit and the upgraded unit's shield cost and then convert the difference in shields into gold to get the price like i mentioned above. :scan:

Here you go: ( New Unit's # of shields - Old Unit's # of shields ) times 2 (in Vanilla civ and PtW) and times 3 in Conquests.

So a warrior (10 shields) to a swordsman (30) in Conquests, would be 30 - 10 = 20 * 3 = 60 shields. :)

is there a way to lower the default upgrade cost in the editor?

In the editor under Edit Civilization 3 Rules. General Settings. In the Food and Gold box, Upgrade Cost. The number is the multipler in the upgrade cost formula. Change to a lower number to reduce the upgrade cost.

or build Leonardo's Workshop
Cost: 600
Culture: 2
Requires: Invention
Expire: Never
Militaristic Halves the upgrade cost of units.
