in the normal scoregraph u see production, finance and power (so u can guess the tech-rank) and at the trade table you see the techs also, so i would not consider it a cheat, imo only displaying information that is already there.

and if it is still considered cheating, what about the mod with research turned off (it is possible according to the readme)?

Mods won't load unless you have the unprotected save file.
