So, when you launch the spaceship, the turns immediately begin lasting 1 yr each. I have two questions:

1. if my ship blows up on the way to Alpha Centauri, do the turns continue being 1 yr each?
2. can i intentionally destroy my own ship while its in space?

I was hoping that by doing this, i could make my game last about 100 turns longer, so that i could get more future techs and such.

This is my first post, so if committed a faux pas, please tell me nicely.

1. Hmmm, not sure. I think it might stay at 1 per turn, but I've never really check it.
2. No, but you can try and help the AI do it for you. Build a city right next to where they are, build your capital there and let them capture the city. IIRC, As long as you don't have enough gold to have your capital moved, your spaceship should be recalled.

I never lost a spaceship, but many, many moons ago, I vaguely recall losing my capital and, IIRC, rebuilding the capital is not automatic. You have a choice to "move" it to another city (assuming you have enough coins). I seem to recall that you can elect not to move it if you choose to.

Ok, so after spending a few minutes with the cheat codes, i determined that:

1. the turns do continue lasting 1 yr each, even after the ship is gone.
2. if the opponents capture my capital, i have the choice of moving it to another city. If i choose not to move it, the spaceship is destroyed.

i have another question: whats the worst possible spaceship i can build? can i launch a SS that has 0% chance of reaching alpha centauri?
