v1.52 Game freezes after about 2-15 mins of gameplay

Just bumping this back to the top in hopes that someone has yet another suggestion for me to try...

I have the same problem with a 6600 GT. The game is just coded like crap... no other game gives me these problems. Anyhow, go into your civ ini file by clicking the shortcut in your civ 4 directory and in there are all the different game settings. Look for the autosave -- not the # of autosaves, but the length of time between em. Set it to 0. This worked for me. I noticed that it kept freezing during the years that it would try and save. I can still manually save games without a problem, but sometimes you get on a roll and forget  then bzzt... frozen. Its not a complete fix, but it definately extends the time between freezings on my computer.

Hope that helps a bit.

Yep, thanks for the suggestion, but tried that long ago, and while you're correct, it has seemed to help a little, I still lockup every 20-30 mins. I'm convinced there is some issue with the 6600GT even tho everyone claims there isn't. I have pretty much eliminated every other possible issue. Oh well, I guess I'll have to just be diligent in saving (and rebooting, UGH!) until another patch or video driver addresses this. Btw, is yours an eVGA? Mine is. Just trying to find anything here...

Well, strange as it seems, I think I finally fixed it! It kept seeming like an overheating problem, but every time I checked, my video card would be reading 50-60, not a heat problem. So I thought about power. I have an Antec 430 watt PS, so I thought, no way, but I had tried everything else, so why not? So I cracked open my case, and come to find out, I had the power cord feeding my mobo also feeding my video card. So, after switching each of those to differing cables, AND disconnecting my 2nd HD, I have been crash free ever since!

Obviously the next step will be to bump back up my settings, and then eventually reconnect the 2nd HD, but for now, I couldn't be happier, as I'm successfully kicking Julies Ceaser, Tokigawa (?sp), and Saladin's butts around my continent! :hammer:

Hopefully this will help someone else out as well!

Hmmm

I have a whole PSU power cable string which is feed to my 6600GT only.
Only experienced these crashes in my games recently. With Civ vi dropping me to my desktop.

Could be problems with latest patch: since it worked fine previously
