v143 resource/unit bug

The Aztecs declared war on me in the classical/medieval era. They had 8 swordsmen. There are 2 iron deposits near their capital, 4 and 5 tiles away. I assume there are none under their three cities. None of their Militaristic allies have iron.

I handled them with walls and a quickly promoted archer plus chariots, but...

I'd guess they traded for iron with a major civ. The strategic unit requirements are done in the game core, so if there's anything odd going on it's unlikely to be vem.

I forgot to mention that the Aztec iron deposits were undeveloped. I doubt they traded for 7-8 iron. But it may just be a one-time thing.

I can't recall if InfoAddict have a "strategic resources" option in the Politics tab, but I think there's something there which may indicate whether that might have been the case. It would make the most sense!

AIs do trade strategics for a very low gold cost, much less than luxuries.

Thanks, Seek. The Aztecs are now history, their swords melted in the hwacha fire. But if I come across this seeming anomaly again, I'll look there.
