Something I've noticed since build 152. Haven't really read it described quite this way. I can work around it okay, but figured someone would like to know.

Description: First loaded game of a session is slow in every conceivable way (animations/pan/menus/etc.).

Steps:
1) Run Civ4 for the first time since OS restart (ie. Auto run from CD-Rom)

2) Load saved game from main menu (in this case mp/hotseat save, but sp saves have reacted the same)

3) It's slow.

My workaround: After I quit to main menu and reload that save a couple of times, everything is fine.

Reminds me of a bad website that you have to refresh a couple of times to get all the objects loaded from a slow server.

My specs: P4 2.2gHz/512mb/NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 (64mb)

Found this the same for me as well. If I load a saved game that has no unit turns left( red light blinking) , the game runs slow right away or within a few turns. If I save it back out in the middle of a turn and then reload it without even going back to the main menu, it runs fine for an hour.

So I always save a game in the middle of a turn and never have any problems. Maybe something to do with the production build popup.

I have a Geforce 4 mx 420 64 mb.

Aha! Interesting. I'm just so used to finishing my build queues/unit movements and then saving, that I never thought to save after queues but before movements. Hmm. I wonder if there is some bad saving/loading of unit routes as well.
