will the city grow quick enough to support the construction of a worker followed immediatly by a settler, i agree we need the worker, but we may see a wasting of production. (note i will repeat this in domestic Dept. thread also)
If we build our city on spot 1 or 2 then I would say Valhalla should build a worker immediately after the settler to increase production/commerce rate of it. But if we build on spots 3,5,6,7 it would be better to build an archer or a spearmen first to improve our military. Since the other spots notified on the map are :
- easy to connect (the single worker can do the job quickly)(7)
- not worth connecting it at this time (3,5,6)
In these cases i think first a military unit, then a worker.
I'm personally against of building the next city at spot 4, but if the election would give that choice then a worker should be built, for fast luxury connecting.
I speak for half of population of Valhalla, of wich there are only two people, when i say that i think the que should be settler, spearman, worker, granary, settler. This will pump out a spearman for either our first defense or additional defense, im not sure what we have in the way of defence there, and then the worker to start connecting with the other settlers, and then the granary to improve production, then the settler to, well settle.
If spot 4 wins, I agree with you on the order. This would give our city a more secure defense(2 spearmen), and a city improvement which would help us grow. So let's say spearman, worker, granary.
I totally agree with the Domestic leader on the build queues for Valhalla. Settler (c), Spearman, Worker, Settler. I also think we should move the Lux slider up to 10% from 0%.
I have to disagree with you Cyc, because I think Valhalla won't have enough population to build the settler when it would be completed. I think we need to build something after the worker, and before the settler , because that way we wouldn't waste our production. In my oppinion the perfect choice would be a granary, because it would help us grow more quickly and it would give us the option to create settlers more often. What's your oppinion?
Well, I'm thinking that the Settler will knock Valhalla down to a 1, then the Spear will get us back to a point to build a quick Worker, which will take the pop and production back down, and by the time we build another Settler, our pop will be back up to a 3. It looks like it will work for us.

We only need one shield to finish off the settler so we can tweak the tiles worked to gain a few extra gold. If we work the cow and two coast tiles we will not delay the settler and will pick up two gold.
Once the settler is built Valhalla will be size one again. By working the cow tile it will grow to size two in five turns - which is what it will take to make a worker. We're going to be milking that cow tile the whole game so every turn it lays unimproved is a loss to Fanatika. Our other worker will be busy connecting iron and spice and will not be able to improve Valhalla's tile for many turns. The sooner we build a worker the better. The garanary could be started after the worker is recuited.
