Vanilla 1.74 PBEM

Yes but if anyone in the chain has BTS and patched it to 3.13 then this messes things up because BTS 3.13 also alters 1.74 meaning that persons 1.74 doesn't match others who haven't got BTS or who haven't patched it to 3.13.

I have had this problem in other games. The only way I could patch BTS to 3.13 was to have a dual install of vanilla where one version was linked to BTS 3.13 and the other was stand alone 1.74.

I'd put my money on this being the problem.

Oh, yes, i have both bts and vanilla....
I probably can install only civ on another partition, but it can be late today..

It's already a 4 players games, sure 5 players is better for a standard sized map. We have ATM the following players: Gundam Guy, AnitaGaribaldi, Burlicconi and Champinoman. You would be after me, if you jumped in the place of Burlicconi. I couldn't make the SMTP server work anyway, so no problem about mailing you the game.

Burlicconi has PM'd me asking about dual installs ... he indicated he was going to be doing this later tonight to play this game so I wouldn't be too hasty replacing him just yet.

I understood Burlicconi asked MoensDVL to play in his place. It's OK for me to start a new game, of course the other players must agree too, even if it is a new game with five players, in case Burlicconi solves the problem. Only two players played the first turn, it doesn't take too long to play it again.

I will wait before mailing the game to MoensDVL.

I have already sent the game to MoensDVL.

MoensDVL: You have to email Champinoman. AFAIK if you set the STMP server, the game will email the game for you. If you can't do this, no problem, the game will save the file and you will email it to Champinoman.

Good News:

Thanks to Moens sending me the original .dll file I am able to play my move

Bad News:

Whoever set up the game didnt add the email for Mansa Musa (i dont even know who is playing as him)

Who am I sending to?


EDIT: I just noticed that all the players in the game are listed by their forum names. Was Mansa Musa added as a computer player? If so, he was left as a human and now it required me to send it to someone instead of the computer just playing its turn and skipping on to next human.
EDIT2: On further inspection it looks like there are 4 human players and 3 AI characters... However all 3 AI are set as humans by mistake . We may have to start again... again. Easy mistake to make.

I confess i was surprised by the number of players. I though we were going to play a game without AI. It's my first MP game, but I think if we make Mansa Musa and the other "humans" quit, the AI will take over these civilizations.

In this case it would be better to re-roll the game and start a new one without AI.

I dont mind either way. My starting location wasnt great but wasnt poor so it makes no difference to me.

I think it will be cleaner if we start it fresh though.

I am suggesting this not because of my starting location, it's ok btw. I just want to play a game preferably without AI at all, and I don't want this game to have "unfilled spaces" on map after we eliminate unnecessary AI players.

If you want I can re-roll this game (suggested settings below) with BTS CvGameCoreDLL.dll involved, so that both owners of vanilla and BTS versions can play this game. This way players like Burlicconi won't have a problem opening the save. What do you say? If you agree, please pm me your email and I need to know your time zone.

Map: Terra (or Balanced?)
Size: Standard
Climate: Temperate
Sea level: Low
Era: Ancient
Difficulty: Noble
Speed: Normal

All options OFF (default)

All victories ON (default)

You don't really have to change anything in your files. As far as I understand, if the game is created with BTS CvGameCoreDLL.dll, everyone will be able to play - both vanilla and BTS version owners. Now we have a game created with vanilla .dll and it can be played only by vanilla users, you can't open this save if you have BTS - like Burlicconi.
