Vanilla

My problem is not technical but I have to ask this to you guys. I always see the "vanilla" thing. What is this? Please don't attack me. I just wonder.

Normally vanilla means plain with no additives, colorings, nor fun.

....or in the case of expansion pack releases, indicates the original version of a game when first released (with no additives, colorings, nor fun! )
