Version 2.502 balance question

I don't know if many of you play multiplayer or not, but this version so far has worked very well for multiplayer.

One thing we noticed is that the financial civs have a HUGE bonus in research because of the extra commerce. Increasing research gives a huge lead in all other things too. We had to go to playing random civs because we were each just taking our favorite financial civ and not playing the rest.

Is there some good way to tone this down a little? Could some of that extra commerce be made unavailable for research? Or research be based more on commerce/hammers/culture, rather than just commerce? Any good ideas out there?

Is this something we could easily adjust ourselves if not a part of the mod?
