Veteran Soldiers

Any idea if you can train veteran soldiers? You used to be able to in Col1 with a university, but I'm not sure if that's still the case with the revised education rules for col2.

If it is possible to train a veteran soldier, do you leave the "Teacher" in the garrison or do you make him work a land tile in the colony?

I had the same problem you do and found out that you cannot train them in this game.

On the bright side, only difference between a veteran and a normal soldier are two promotions; they both have the same base strength of 3.

Free Colonists in the original used to have a chance of being promoted to Veterans through combat. George Washington in congress made it a 100% chance from winning a fight to be promoted.
Who'd'a thought you could learn to be a Veteran Soldier by fighting.

But Veteran Soldiers seem pretty worthless over anyone else right now. The promotions are still nice, but hardly worth getting excited about.
