Victory

That doesn't surprise me at all, yet I have every confidence that you guys will continue to surprise me with your ideas. :goodjob:

In the late game, with the armageddon tech, every civ will have a chance to build a hero (1 :strength:, 3 :move:, starts with immortal and can not gain XP). To win this impossible victory condition you'll need to kill X units with this hero (X being a number of your choice), the hero won't lose any of the kills if he dies.

Maybe SNAitM.

The tower victory seems to be based too much on conquest. And seems almost impossible on maps at size small and smaller. There are wonders that give mana, true, but you cannot get every mana that way.

And is there anyway to conquer a civs palace except by taking their capital (if its their last city) by culture?

There is no way to conquer a civs palace at all, it is always destroyed on conquest.
the ToM is easier on larger maps, unlike the other victory types.

Unless it is has been changed it since 1.61 vanilla, you should be able to capture the Palace under one special condition. I know, since I have done it in vanilla.

This happened when Americas Capital got captured by france, then the palace got transfered to their new city that was in riot to my culture on my border. Next turn it flipped. Ta Da, I had two palaces. (And America was destroyed by my culture)

A heroic victory condition could be interesting. And certainly fits with the theme.

I'm going for a tower of magic victory now. There is not a lot of suspense. Especially if you are waiting until Fire to focus on the end game, my suggestion would be to simply reduce the amount of time it takes to build the tower of mastery. I'm basically just playing now so that I have a sense of completion. I'm building strength 15 units to defend my borders against straight 6 units.

That said, while I was trying to get the Mana, it was great. It involved conquest, but not blind conquest. I was fighting for strategic control of resources -- much more interesting. And I played on the "Continents" map, which meant there was a new world to go explore and take the Mana from. All in all, I'm happy with the victory condition and just think it needs some tweeking.

I was playing on a large map and I have to say it was a lot better than domination/conquest. I've never felt it worth to go through the trouble of one of those victories on a larger map.

I like the idea of religion specific victories.

PS: I just switched to Ashen Veil for the first time. Awesome graphics.

I was about to say... That is some -serious- Necromancy... Makes Barbatos look like a rank amateur ;)
