Ok, i'm new to Civ and have been playing Civ 5 for a couple of weeks now. I am running a Radeon 4850 X2 with 1GB RAM times two for a total of 2GB of video RAM. I have noticed that a lot of games will recognize much less than the total installed ram in their graphics ini file. Civ 5 is acting like it isn't using all the video RAM I have. I have looked and searched around google for info on how to manually tell Civ 5 how much video RAM I have but i can't seem to find anything. Does anybody have any help on how to manually tell it how much ram it needs to be using?

Thanks,

 I don't think settings in .ini files of any games determines directly how much of the VRAM it will use. How exactly did you determine that "Civ 5 is acting like it isn't using all the video RAM"? Do you refer to the texture pop-ins?

Due to the way multi-GPU setups work, you have effectively only 1GB VRAM on your setup. Civ5 will probably use most or all of it. It sure does with my 896 MB GTX260. You can check that for example with GPU-z.

Yeah, iRacing defaults to only 512MB of VRAM and on a random assortment of other games i have found settings for it..... Yeah, the texture pop in is making it seem like it isn't. I never "exactly determined" that it wasn't, but it was just acting like it wasn't and i wanted to double check.
