Village and roads

As I understand it, village will produce more if a road is placed on the tile and connecting two cities.
But is it possible to build a ring of roads around a city at the range of 3 and then have three roads going out from the center to maximize the potential of villages, or does the roads on the village have to be more or less straight to other cities to provide bonus ?

Has to be city connection roads. Not just roads.

What I mean is illustrated on the attach image.
The red is the city center. Green is a road, and yellow are villages.
There is only one road going to another city at the north east.

So what I am asking is if only two villages are getting bonus for city connection or if all them are.

Only the first road connected as city connection road.
Btw, what is the extra stuff if get passed by trade route? Can it be internal trade route? And is it stackable?

The bonus is same as the 'city connect route' bonus as far as I recall, and the two stack. Does not matter if internal or foreign trade. I don't believe more then one trade route can apply the bonus per village however.

Your example doesn't make sense without factoring other cities in. You can get pretty close by having several roads going off the capital to different cities, which don't have a connection to each other. Only the roads which state "City Connection" in the tooltip work, and the city connection is the shortest amount of continuous road tiles to the capital. There is way too many variables, the most basic one is military movement, to work with this mechanic beyond "hey, I can put a Village instead of a Farm on the road to this secondary city". Several TRs do stack, but this bonus is even less predictable than city connections.

I've recently found that those roads don't have to connect a city with a capital. It could be a road connecting two non-capital cities, too. You can boost a lot of villages that way, just connecting every city with each other when possible. Do several TRs really stack? I was pretty sure they didn't.

Is one of those non-capital cities a coastal city with a lighthouse by chance? They count as connected to the capital as well.

That's why I said "the shortest amount of continuous road tiles to the capital". Other non-capital cities have a road built under them by default.

I had a pre-railroad 5 :c5production: Village on grassland in one of my games where my capital didn't start on coast.

They don't stack.
