Vista Civ problems during gameplay

Hello,

I just installed civ4 BTS 3.13 in a laptop (2.0GHZ dual core, NVIDIA GTX260M (1GB), 4GB ram, vista 64), accessed the game and it crashed while loading the map. I tried running it again and this time it crashed while the game was regenerating the map. I have reinstalled the game already but with similar results. What's going on??

try to patch to 3.19
try a newer graphics driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_186.81_whql.html
update vista with service pack 2

Well, I haven't upgraded to v3.19 however my laptop rejects the driver in the link as well as other vista 64 drivers selected from the nvidia page.

oh the linked driver was for 32bit - you might need to get a driver from the vendor who assembled the laptop...
but try updating first
