Volcanoes

I'm not understanding why in the latest patch, volcanoes are not prevented from spawning next to each other. Volcanoes are often next to each other IRL Is there some game reason for it?

An interesting disaster would be the appearance of a new volcano somewhere. It happens - think Parícutin.

And I have to comment that Firaxis have no idea what a mega-colossal eruption looks like! When Long Valley blew its top, thick ash extended all the way to the east coast of North America.

I come from New Zealand and the Taupo Eruption-was also impressive, not as big as long valley but at 186 AD is far more within the realms of the game.
Do not underestimate what they know or have investigated. Just wiki on mega colossal eruptions makes it clear but they tone it down for the game.
Equally IRL real volcanoes come in chains as you clearly know And they did group them in the game (I got 3 in a triangle) but I think people complain that when they group like this there is less on the map to ‘harvest’
