Or a few...
I have been playing through as each of the empires on the new scenario. I had fun with the Incas once I figured out that only my capital could really be helped by terraced farms but man, no hill slowdowns? I was able to retreat and send aid quickly to repel the imperialist bastards who smiled until I told them this land is already taken.
Anyways.. Isabella was a blast with the OP wonder bonuses she gets. I parked my 3 only cities next to them and had lots of coins and happiness.
My latest was Liz and the fleet of doom I built. I snagged all three bonuses for finding china and then set about taking out Monty. He only had one coastal city. Nappy asked me to join in a war with Monty so I happily obliged. Nap had his chops slobbering to capture Monty's citys as Nappy had settled along the cost not far away. He also had a danged gold-pile island in the middle of the ocean between london and monty. A bit of a pain.
So.. I bombed the heck out of Monty's coastl city, took it right from under Nappy's nose and built up a beachhead of cats, pikes and a lone xbow. I got greedy and put a cat within firing range of the cap and a sword came out and minced it. Then my flotilla of doom unleashed an unearthly barrage that sent that unit into the next life.. whatever that is for the Aztecs.
Because of the stupid AI ICSing, I decided that best tactical route to the cap, which was going to be a little tough to get at--- was to take the smaller cities first. I took the capital and sent the treasure ships on their way. I had claimed potosi and gotten treasure from there as well.
I then decided I had enough of the backstabbing Nap who invited me into war with monty and then did nothing and then denounced me. They all denounced me after initially being friendly with me for granting border deals with everyone since none were near me.
The Royal Navy was seasoned with the blood of barbarians, scuttling their toy ships and unleashing the fury of her cannons on spearmen and archers who venture to close to the coast. I set my researchers to study piracy. It would only take 5 turns. I surrounded the Isle O' Gold in the middle of the ocean and the coastal city Nap settled near Monty's capital, now annexed.
Nappy sneered at the size of my army. He and the Iroquois laughed at my lack of culture. Cannons were trained. I built a citadel in the middle of the short border between his settlement and my newly puppeted (mostly) lands. He had his fancy french musketeers on my border and a cannon garrisoned in his pathetic settlement. I maned the citadel with one of my fine Terceo's and lined up one more on each side. A promoted xbow and cannon were positioned behind this line.
Then the last of my treasure ships reached London (despite Nappy's attempt to grab water tiles to block accesss and stationing a caravel as harassment) and the game was over!
WAAAAAAH!!!
I wanted to relish in the thunder of the cannonade trained on Napoleon's foothold in the new world! I wanted to pound his island of gold into gold flake!
JUST a FEW MORE TURNS@!!!!!!
I really dont know why the scenario is barred from this. Why? Yeah I won the scenario, but things were just ready to get cookin! I know Nap would have fallen but Isabella, the little wench had ICSed a good chunck of territory and would not have been a push over.
Pack-a-chewing gum and the Iriqouis controlled most of the new world. It would have been fun to take out the Spaniards and then conquer the new world armies.
Long live the Queen!
PS. Gotta love Lizzie's UA coupled with Commerce!
