Waiting for DSL

Is there a reason why anyone has to wait multiple weeks to get a connection opened up in the house?
 
Schedualing, perhaps? Not enough technicians and too many people signing up?

That would be my guess.
 
If you happen to be getting it from Sprint, probably because they're behind after being on strike for several months.
 
Well, Its diffrent in the States as apposed to Canada. The primary reason is that there is not one single company that owns everything. in the USA, one company owns the Central Office, another owns part of the network, the third owns the other part of the network, one company owns the RSLAM (thats a repeator, so the DSL single can go further) and blah blah blah. atleast, that is what i was told. Here in Canada, one company pretty much owns everything, set up takes 1 week at the max
