The Timurids originated with Tamerlane (a.k.a Timur ==> Timurids). They later spread to Mughal Empire.
to continue on his statement:
Badur (the founder of the Mughal Empire, and a Timurid Prince) pushed the Empire into Southern India, and at the same time the western borders lost lands to invading Persian forces (I believe the Safavid Dynasty)
Saying that France is England because the Normans invaded is a pretty rediculous comment. Specifically because the Norman's invaded and only controlled a small region of France.
Seen Here:
Its actually kind of funny that you say "England" because the "Normans" were orignially Vikings.
A better comparison would be calling what Arabia did to the rest of the Middle East. i.e. Starting in around Mecca and conquoring west into Egypt, Morocco and up into Spain!, north into Asia Minor, and east into Afhanistan.
They caliphates took on different names, depending on the ruling family, but they were all "Arabs", In "civ-speak, they are subsequently combined into the "Arabian Empire", because the history of the subsequent Dynasties makes up 1 continuous Empire. Similar to Persia, and Rome.
The same is said for the Timurids/Mughals. IMO anyway, they are the same "family" of empires. interstingly enough they started as Mongol/Turkish mix that conquored central asia into Persia/Arabia (assimilating Persian and Arabian culture in the process), then spread into India, where they likewise assimilating Indian culture.
fyi, Mughal is a derivation of "Mongol" (Timur and Badur, were both decendants of Genghis Khan).
