Ok, I want to try a War Diety OCC with an SG group.

For those of you who doesn't know what a a War Diety OCC is... I'll explain it:

It's a Diety game where you have ONLY one city (OCC=one city challange). Inside of a War Diety OCC you must declare war against everyone you meet. Meaning that you can not have any allies, trade partners, etc.

Are Goals:
1) To survive without losing by military (even if we don't win)
2) To actually win the game (with one city!)

Rules:

1) Abosolutely NO building more than one city.
2) Having extra settlers is OK... Just as long as you don't fund a city with one. (to make the game alittle less "impossible")

MapVanilla Civ3 1.29f
Size: Standard
#AI-Civs: Max

Everything else random.

I'm looking for 5 players and 2 reserves.... So sign up now!!!

There has been only one diety AW win ever.
I loss a SG recently attempting emperor.

I don't think you will get anyone for this one, as the scenario is almost impossible

Actually.... It's pretty much impossible to win, but if you noticed.... the main goal is not to be destroyed by any military means. That is hard, but hardly not impossible....

Also.... I'm not playing this just to win.... I'm playing this for the fun factor. If we die... fine.... It's worth the shot, but if we win.... Then we do something that almost no one has ever done before.

Strangely enough I have actually tried this concept on a tiny map as defensive practice. I used the French on a tiny Pangaea, and survived until the end of the Middle Ages before the inevitable conquest loss. The French are probably the worst possible civ for this type of game, but even with good leader luck, the presence of iron, and a well timed (if unexpected) golden age, the sheer number of units was just overwhelming. If the AI gets tanks while you are still defending with pikemen or muskets (as would inevitably happen) I just don't see how one could survive. Maybe on a minimum land Archepelago you could blockade the coast until marines, but I don't know if that is your intent.

Here is a screenshot from the doomed French attempt to show what you might be in for:

Doomed Paris

Actually my plan right now is to get the team of 5 people up... Then give us about a week or so to talk about it... How are we going to do this? What should we do? etc.

Careful planning and hopefully a good amount of luck and were win this thing.

Strider, I think you are seriously underestimating the difficulty of such a game. A OCC variant is difficult to win above Monarch, nearly impossible to do on Deity (though it has been done). Always War is another difficult variant, almost impossibly difficult to win on Deity. As yet, I know of only one player who has ever won an Always War Deity game - and lots of failed attempts. You're proposing a OCC AWD game? Sorry, but there is no possible way to win that game on a standard sized, non-cheated map. If no one is leaping forward to sign up, it's because the scenario you've proposed is doomed to failure. If you want to give this a go, try Monarch or even Regent first; I suspect the game would be hard enough at those difficulties, never mind Deity.

In an always war game, you have to be as strong as possible. Having only one city is the exact opposite: your military is weak, you are poor on ressources and lack producing capabilities. This concept is not feasible by definition.

I'm not seriously underestimating how difficult it is. I know that it's pretty much impossible. Also.... I've won both OCC Diety games... and I've yet to try an Always War Diety game. Also.... This is a game.... I'm just doing this for the fun of it. That and doing a game like this would help me in my little "research" project.

Also.... If we get a coastal start.... I'm pretty confident we can last for awhile. Up intill marines atleast. And, also.... the goal is not to win the game... The goal is just not to lose by military means.

{Sorry to bump this if its dead.}

What if you did this on an 80% water archepelago? First, you wouldn't meet any civs for a long time so you could get colonies going. Second you might prevent the AI research from going to fast without them knowing each other for a while. Third, you could, as others mentioned, blockade the shores of your island, preventing attack until Marines (or Berserks). If you got a whole island to yourself with resources on it, you could have a colony for everything you need? Building cheap units and upgrading when necessary.

Seems like this game is pretty much dead, although it didn't even start. Maybe it is worth to mod the scenario and change some variant-rules just a little bit. In stead of a strict AW game you could state that peace with two or three AI's is allowed. This way you can trade some tech's and will not face any Panzer-Pikeman confrontation's (although it's not impossible to win such a battle). Besides that some free units in democracy or republic could come in handy. With these changes it might be possible (can't believe I'm really saying this :crazyeye: ) to pull this one off. Keep in mind that the goal is not to loose the game by domination or conquest. I've never seen a AI domination win, so the goal in this game would just be to survive as long as possible, thus defending your only city with all that you have..

Well with some free units, a nice starting possition (some hill's for defence) and the possibility not to fall too much behind in tech, it might be a challange for those deity veterans out there. Just see it as an defensive practice....
