I've been working a lot on trying to make warfare complicated, and I'm trying to figure out how to make the battles interesting without massively balancing it in the players' favor.
For example, Art of War mod currently uses 20hp per unit which makes warfare more interesting, but much easier. It doesn't take a tactical genius to figure out how to smash the A.I. with hit and runs. Is this the solution, only perhaps to make the A.I. produce more units as well?
There is the city problem as well. Making cities too weak leads to steamrolling A.I.s without stop like it is now. Making them too strong leads to letting the A.I. knock on your doorstep to whittle them to pieces and then break out. Is there a middle ground, or perhaps a better way of doing it? Personally I would favor only increasing A.I. city defense, but I'm not sure how to do it, as there is nothing mentioned in handicaps.
