Warhammer Fantasy Battles Mod Brainstorm Thread

i disagree that bombardment betterrepresents flying units in warhammer. in WH some of the stongest, most deadly units you can get are flying (and i have won a few games purely because of them) plus i wouldnt want dragons to only be little annoyances for enemy troops as opposed to the huge, terrifying beast that they are. (i would like to keep flyers as they are, but allow them to ignore all terrain movement, be able to scout like the recon hawk, and have to option of making them 'fly' for a few turns (which makes them immune to non flyer attacks, cannot attack non flyers, but gets sentry 3 for a bit.)

however i would like to see some oldschool flyers back in the game, so i suggest a new kind of unit (like a bat Swarm (for vampires), of Flock of hawks (for woodelves), or terradon bombarder (lizardmen) etc etc.) as opposed to replacing the current ones.

To put it simply... bombers in Vanilla, warlords, and BTS are insanely good... in a normal sized map you can expect to cripple your opponents war effort in 2-3 turns... with only around 10 units... and if there stealth bombers... then you can win the game almost purely with them... throw in some modern armour and you can blast out troop concentrations and mass you armour and win every time... they are the second only in potential stand off value to ships with blockade (you can starve civs to the ground with blockade :D, coastal cities and island cities lose the ability to feed citizens...)

@PL Flyers are insanely powerful... even a basic flying unit can be expected with 20 inch movement to nip around the flanks of your unit and quite possibly auto-break it... the Empire only has Griffins the poor mans flyers... but even then they have unit strength 9 enough to cause break tests :D

And fighting proper flying beasties Dragons is a daunting idea... ie the high amount of attacks, the silly amount of wounds, the hero with a silly amount of attacks... and well you get the point... you can expect them to break a weaker unit in a turn...

In all honesty.. i dont see bombardment as a part of the WH universe... apart from Screaming Skull Catapults etc... flyers just dont bombard stuff (well Goblin diver thingys do... but they go splat... so meh)

Note: Im tired and hot... it must be 80+% humidity and 36ish.... and ive been out in it for most of the day (ignore any irregularities)

Yeah the swarms would be an interesting addition... and i think in that respect they would be a good bombardment unit... in the sense that they can attack and eat a few people and not suffer any great losses :D
