Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

I like the first one. :) I think the only thing I would have suggested you change from the original would be to add roots around the feet...

Do you still have the model for the first one? It'd be cool to have a young slender ent, with smooth skin and lots of foliage and an old, twisted, blackened, grizzled veteran ent, with those massive hands he'd be able to do quite some damage...

I kinda liked the earlier version better as well. Well, the differences aren't big and both of them look excellent, but I think I'm also more into the gnarled and twisted treeman rather than the rigid and tall one.

I see your point, but the first one just looked too human to me. Perhaps if he was MORE gnarled somehow in a way that humans just aren't it would work better? Some kind of roots for his feet would work nicely too, as opposed to the legs getting wider at the base (though I like that effect).

@mrtn
Should he be smiling gently? I'm all for the gnarly and grizzled badass-ent look.

Besides, have you checked out the treeman model? Doesn't look too nice.

Thanks all, your comments are under consideration:
- I liked the first treeman stance better, but the new "tapering" legs didn't work well with that setup (thus they would need a bit of reworking )
- I think that those civ-coloured kneepads (? :crazyeye: ?) are fine. Or not. Maybe I should extend the front part of the calfs a bit over the knees, so the legs would look a bit more "jagged".

The face looks evil. :undecide:
- Plese do note, that this is not an ent from the LOTR-movie. I've said that this is a treeman - not an ent. Since this is not an ent (it's a treeman, got it ;) ), it shall not look like those cute ents of the lotr-movie. Treemen are tough dudes, who can (with a bit of luck) stomp dragons in dirt. Here's a pic of warhammer treemen

Wow, excellent addition there, looking great as usual! Please also do a Dryad unit (Like a baby treeman) as well if you can, the Wood Elves are crying out for another unit!

Hey, that cute movie-ent looks like a treeman

Note, there is a difference between looking mean (as that miniature does) and looking evil (as your unit does). That :D-grin is too much, IMO.

The first treeman was perfect. Stocky, grim and powerfull looking. The second one just looked spindly and weak.

I find myself in concurrence with the good doctor. While the present model does not look bad by any means, I prefered the first one.

Okay, so I'm outvoted. :p I'll still stick with saying that the changed lower legs, at least, were the best alteration. From the miniature you'll note similar shaped legs to the second model, as well as a more rigid posture. :mischief: I wouldn't mind seeing more crags and less symmetry (like the miniature shows too), but if everyone else disagrees, then...

Sooooo.... aaglo.. whatcha working on next?

Well:
There are a ton of hobbit requests from the LotM-team (archers, spearmen, militia...)
Then drift requested an earth elemental.
Then of course the dryad (but I don't know anything about them - what do they do? Hit people with hands? :crazyeye: )

or maybe I'll take a long break after the hobbits (because I could use a break - but I don't know if I can keep myself from making units  )

@aaglo - '+14 Warlord' huh, looks like you went up a notch :D

I really really hope you have some time to make 40K units...

I have a little request: once you finish those nice hobit units could you make a dwarf longbeard please? I know you have a lot of work to do, and if this isn't possible I'll understand. So, what do you think?

Yes, yes! Make the Dryad, then make some dwarf units (once you feel you have the time)...

Hi!
Here's a pre-preview of the dryad. It looks quite a lot like the treeman done earlier, but who cares :mischief: ? Here's a list of changes made to the treeman:
- colours edited
- different back
- different head
- different knee & elbow "growths"

In ancient greece dryads were sort of tree nymphs, sort of female spirits living in trees. Okay, this is clearly not one of those  . So this is just a regular warhammer fantasy "spirit of the woods". What do you think?
