Warlords Patch 2.13 Released!

Uh, care to share the solution? I'm having the same problem (getting a "Setup.exe has stopped working error). For some reason since I started using Vista yesterday, all of my downloads have been very slow and repeatedly stop for a few minutes before resuming. I don't think it's my connection as other Internet functionality has been just fine. Anyway, the dragging downloads haven't caused a problem with any downloaded .exe files, really (including a 159 MB download, so size isn't an issue), except this patch. For some reason it seems my computer can't get a full download of the patch, even though it says it's complete. Last effort produced a file that was 39MB...
If you have problems downloading it from inside game, then perhaps download it from firaxis website instead?

I've tried both, Gyathaar...in-game download produced a 1 MB file, the Fireaxis download produced the 39MB file. I'm trying again now...

Thanks, by the way, for being so helpful in this thread (and others!)! I did download the directx9.0c file, as suggested, so hopefully once I get a full download I'll be good to go...

Ok I also have install the new patch for Warlords and restarted the system after installing Direct X9c but its still given me the D3DX9_32.DLL error and its also telling me to reinstall the application ( i take it, it means re-install the game) I would rather not do that but if I have no choice than I guess I will need to can any one help please.

You dont need to reinstall the application.. that is a default windows message.

If you get that message after installing directx9c, then you installed an too old version of directx9c.. it needs to be from April 2007 or later.

Ok Its working already I went to a site that I found on here thanks.

Did you install a version of directx9.0c that is from april or newer?

Yes, I got it from the link earlier in the forum, it's from June:sad: I have no idea why it wont work    Do I have to install it anywhere spacific?

I haven't had this much difficulty getting a patch to run in longer than I can remember. Boo on you, Civ 4 developers. Oh, and your interminable mod process still sucks.

The people at Firaxis are obviously smoking crack. I wish I would have never heard about this patch. I would have just waited till Tuesday when I get BTS. Now I have spend an hour downloading fixes and probably will have to re-install vanilla.

What a bunch of idiots!

i posted this in another thread:

 well, now that i have completely uninstalled both vanilla and warlords (and all components) and removed all traces from the registry, i cannot install ANY programs. my pc is screwed. when it asks for the second disc (vanilla) and i insert it, my screen goes white and the whole thing crashes. if i have to put this thing in the shop, will firaxis )or whomever) pay?? i cannot play their games, and now i cannot do my job and make money to buy more. DO NOT USE THESE PATCHES. THEY ARE USELESS AND WILL RUIN YOUR COMPUTER.       i will not purchase any other products from this company and i will complain LOUD AND LONG and advise anyone to boycott these games. unless yer addicted like i am. :(

<just trying to help ... I don't profess to be an expert by any means>

The really critical piece to the patch is getting the Directx release prior. That may explain the shader problems. If not that then your video card needs it's drivers updated maybe after the Directx update.

If you have the new Directx and the best way of finding out is to go here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

Download the installer ... if it finds that you are not at the correct version it will update it ... if it is already it will tell you.

One note about the DIRECTX install ... if it pooches itself you are in major trouble. ALWAYS create a restore point before doing anything with DIRECTX.

I've also found that getting the actual install from firaxis is better than running it from the game lobby. Turn off your anti virus, firewall, anti spam ... well anything you can shutdown to make the install run clean.

Some people I know have had all sorts of issues ... they have eventually destalled CIVIV, Warlords and then installed CIVIV and BTS and all is right with the world.

Try using a restore point. You've cleaned the registry of something that is required by XP.

You run Vista? Did you install the lastest directx9.0c .. you need to do it in vista too... (and I dont think vista will complain about missing dll)

Vista complained about the missing dll

Quote from Dll site:

New HLSL Shader Compiler for Direct3D 9 Targets: No Support for 1.x Pixel Shader Targets

The December 2006 SDK includes D3DX9_32.DLL. This DLL includes the Direct3D 10 HLSL compiler enabled for Direct3D 9 targets. This compiler supports shader models only beginning with version 2.0. The new compiler has no support for 1.x pixel shader targets. This new compiler is the default for Direct3D 9. As a result, developers are encouraged to author their shaders in HLSL, and to make sure that they are using at least shader model 2.0 hardware. The legacy compiler is available by using the /LD switch.

Your question makes me think you didnt actually install it, but run ran the downloaded file.
When you run the downloaded file, it creates a directory that you specify.
After it does this, you have to manually go to this place, and run the DXSETUP.exe program there to actually install it

Does somebody know, whem this patch will also be available for Mac-Users?

Okay, instead of reading this thread first, as I should have, I rushed ahead, and installed the patches (first vanilla v1.74 and then warlords v2.13, no uninstalling). I'm getting the same *.dll error that others are getting on game startup.

So, to fix this, can I just download the new DirectX 9.0c and everything will be fine? Or will I have to uninstall everything, install new DirectX, install vanilla again, patch it to v1.74, then install Warlords, and finally patch it to v2.13? Do I have to install any of the previous patches before updating to the "final" new patches?

So, has anyone noticed that copper and iron tend to pop closer to the capital now? Or maybe that's just because I've been playing fractal maps? If not the latter, it seems a happy medium's been struck between the original frequency of copper popping in or very near your capital's FC and the Warlords 2.08 almost complete lack of reasonably obtainable copper and iron.

I think the problem is that installing DirectX doesn't always seem to install those DLL's. That's what happenend to me, I had DirectX 9.0C running on my computer when I installed the patch but not the DLL. Since I had directx 9.0C, I thought the game would work, but I got the DLL error.

I checked on Micorsoft's website, computers like mine that get automatically updated (for computer illiterates like me) didn't get the DLL's. Apparently, a lot of the game manufacturers are mad at microsoft. Anyway, I installed the package (SDK or something like that) that included the missing DLL's. It worked. You can probably get away with just installing the key one, though, if you know how.
