I don't know if it's a bug or if it's intended this way (if it is, it's pretty stupid) but when you do have the Warlords expansion installed and that you launch the BtS expansion, you don't have access to the Warlords scenarios.

I know BtS is suppose to come with almost all, if not all, the feature from Warlords, except the scenarios, but if you own and have Warlords installed there should be no logical reason to not have access to those scenario while in BtS.

This is annoying because if you do want to play a Warlords scenario you need to launch Warlords specifically which "force" you to swap CDs.

If I still have access to the original Civ4 scenarios when in BtS, why not do the same with Warlords?

For BtS scenarios you have to start BtS - for Warlords Scenarios you have to start Warlords and for Vanilla scenarios you have to start Vanilla. Therefore you have 3 different icons on your desktop.

Not exactly true... You can still access the "Vanilla" scenarios from either Civ4, Warlords or BtS, hence my question as to why not beeing able to do so with the Warlords ones from BtS if in fact you do have the original Warlords installed.

Bug, forgotten feature or intended to be that way?

As for, Therefore you have 3 icons... you still need to swap the CDs which is something I would prefer not to do since I keep my "unused" CDs in the original closed box for safe keeping.

I see your points - so your major question is - how can I save my original cds? What I can say is you can always create images and perhaps look for
some daemon tools and perhaps for s4hide

I would prefer not to use .iso or to install crack which I think is "illegal"...

Beside, if they could include the original Civ4 scenario, I don't see why they can't enable the Warlords ones too.

Yeah, I asked a little while ago how to play the WL scenarios in BtS, and I was told you couldn't. Which is stupid.

Like you, I don't want to faff about changing discs.

FYI: You are always allowed to make backups of what you bought. So creating images of a CD/DVD is always legal if you own the original.

Please keep the topic of legality and copies of out of this discussion.

You can't play Warlords scenarios using the BtS engine anymore than you can use the basic Civ game to play Warlords engines.

To play any expansion-specific scenarios you must start that specific expansion. There's nothing illogical about this, and yes, you can play basic game scenarios from any expansion.

This isn't a bug.

But you can play the Civ IV scenarios using the BtS engine, yes? So isn't it illogical that you can't also play the Warlords scenarios in BtS?

Especially since BtS seems to include almost every things from Warlords, except the scenarios...
