Warmonger Question/need help

So, i'm playing peacefully with England trying to get a cultural victory when all of a sudden two nations declare war against me. Out of nowhere. So i'll try to defend and eventually get a strong naval fleet. I then use the naval fleet to cut their trade routes and plunder them. After some turns we're all back in peace.

After a while 2 nations (1 i already was in war with before) declare war against me. Again out of nowhere. One was France and they only had Paris. After some turns i destroy France and make peace with the other nation. Now after some turns again almost all nations denounce me because i'm warmonger?

Can somebody please explain why this all happens and what you can de best to stay peaceful and not let nations declare war on you?

You would've probably received a response faster in the general discussion section of the forum.

You get warmonger points for capturing cities and an extreme penalty for taking someone's last city, i.e. wiping them out. Also from declaring war, but that doesn't apply in this case.

As for how to avoid being declared against, the best way seems to be having a decent army. You can check your military strength vs. other players by clicking World Rankings in the upper right corner, then hovering over the icons in the domination section. Positive relations help, too, and war can't be declared against declared friends or allies.

If you destroyed the capital of a nation, your "warmonger" point climb to the sky. As you can't give it back to the France, the penalty for warmonger will stay.
Next time, destroy the city wall and the defense, but to not enter the city. Then ask for peace and ask for every thong he have. That should do the job.

I've never traded a capital so I can't say for sure, but I would suspect the answer is no.

The reason why people go to war with you is typically one of the following

You are winning
You are in a land space they want
They see you have a weak army and joint war you to make better friends with each other
They dislike you for warmongering.

If you want a peaceful game then do not capture cities. Decimate armies/navies and looting their land gives not punishment but taking their cities does, especially as the game goes on.

There is a lot more to warmongering but that's the basic answer to your question.
