Watching other Civs move

Is there some way to reset or modify the game or a game file so I don't have to watch all the moves other civs are making? I take my turn, then I have to sit for EVER watching the other guys make all their moves. Watching them takes 5 or 6 times as long as it takes me to make my moves, and I just want to eliminate the necessity of having to watch them. It extends the game out forever and I really don't care about their moves anyway. It's discouraging to sit there watching all those other moves and makes me want to go play a different game.

I believe I checked a box somewhere at the beginning of the game that said don't show enemy moves, but that obviously didn't help.

Please help.

Thank you.

That may be the problem. Can you do that effectively during a game or after a game has been started?

lol. You can do that while they're moving! Just pressing ctrl-O during the middle of their turn.

I went back to the main advanced screen and unchecked "Show friendly moves" and it fixed the problem. Thank you for your help.

Next question is: how do you locate a specific city on the global map? I've hit F1 but that just gives all the cities info. In the older versions there was a "Find City" feature, but I can't find that in CIV4 BTS.
Can you help?

Thanx

I don't think there is that feature, but I havn't played it much, and havn't seen it yet if there is one.

Unfortunately there isn't one.

I think F1 works pretty well. You can click on the "Name" column header to have your cities sorted in alphabetical order to allow an easier localization of the city of interest within the list. Then just click on the city's row and the screen should re-center above it. (At least that's how it works with the BUG mod).

It doesn't work that way in BTS. I tried clicking, double clicking, right clicking and tongue clicking with negative results. I placed the global map over a spot, then clicked on the city name and it didn't move to the spot on the global map where the city was.

Surely they didn't remove that feature from the game?

what is tongue clicking? Guess I will have to laod the Bug mod then, I miss that feature.

Yes it looks like it was taken out of the game

Tongue clicking is a joke. My point was that I tried every kind of clicking I could think of to get the map to move over the city I was trying find.

Too bad. Maybe this works: Press F1 - select city (row highlighted) - press C - exit Advisor Screen.
Otherwise: Get Bug Mod (it's really great!)

I downloaded BUG 35.exe. Are there any special procedures I need to know about to install it? I'm using BTS 3.13 which is the version I want to keep, but I don't want to screw anything up. I've never installed a MOD before.

3.13 is ridden with bugs: do please update to 3.17, and then go to the BUG mod. There are other mods which deal with other bugs, one such being labelled an unofficial patch and seemingly well regarded in the community.

Yes, why would you not want to upgrade your game as much as possible? 3.17 is a pretty good patch which not only fixes a number of fairly serious bugs but also adds a few nice features. Like being able to see who is worst enemies with whom in the diplo screen. It makes adjusting your diplomatic/trade stance with everyone so much easier.

I would recheck 'show enemy moves', it's fairly useful to be able to see the units moving when you're at war with someone :)
