From my memory... Keshiks were OP dominators, ala The Mongol Scenario.
I played the Mongols for the first time in a multi-player team, and was underwhelmed. The ranged strength was only 13, and they faced off against Camel Archers with a ranged strength of 16. Somehow I remembered the Keshiks having a higher strength, but it has been a while since I played them. The faster promotions were nice, but there was so much action none of my keshiks survived long enough to get the awesome promotions like shoot twice or extra range,
The horsemen with extra movement were like weak Companion Cavalry, and city-states were turned off - by the end of the game I was feeling like most other civs would be stronger in a teamer setting.
