In a game I was playing pre-patch on Regent level I had just progressed into the modern times. My corruption was very high as through conquest I was around 50+ cities. I had never used the wealth feature as I read in the manual or civpedia that it was 8 sheilds to 1 gold, thus I figured it was not practical.
I had just conqured the Aztecs and French and was in a state of peace. My military was strong compared to the other civs and a fair portion of my core cities had all the improvements built available up to that point. With factories and the Hoover Dam some of these cities cities had shield production 60+. I was running low on funds as I was rush buying improvements in the newly conqured cities. I figured 8 to 1 was a poor ratio but oh well at least it was something. So I went to a city that had more than 64 shields and turned on the wealth in the build qeue. I noted the income from cities prior to this and then checked it after. It had gone up 17. I re did the city production to a unit and sure enough it dropped 17. Well I was puzzled. So I started tinkering with other cities and seeing what it did to the income from cities. what I learned was the ratio was at 4 to 1 and would round up or down following standard rounding rules.
WOW I thought this is pretty good 4 to 1 I can work with this, and seemed relistic enough for me.
Next I had to figure out what made the change. At first I thought it was the bank improvement as all these cities had banks. So I started scanning through my cities looking for one that didn't have a bank. I had several but most of them didn't have much in shield production either. Thus using the save game routine I sold a bank, but I still got the 4 to 1 ratio.
The only thing I could conclude was the small wonder Wall Street did this. Oh also I was a democracy and playing the Americans.
Not sure I can find info in the ditor or maybe I did not look int the correct spot but I'm curious if others have noticed this? Or if someone familiar with edit use has seen this? Also in my current post patch game I'm not up to the Bank improvement yet so I'm curious if anyone has seen this 4 to 1 ratio work with Wall Street in post patch? My apologies if this has been discussed, I looked through the forum some but all I saw was folks bothered by the 8 to 1 ratio.
Also I'm beginning to think there are other burried secrets in this game that only through time and info sharing will they all be found.
Any thoughts or observations would be most appreciated.
