weapon upgrades

in ffh there were messages telling you when units had weapon upgrades (bronze>iron>mithril). i haven't seen this happen yet in ff even though i've had access to copper and iron (with mines of gal dur). what am i not doing?

The upgrade happens but there is no message.

yep, i went back to an old game an noticed the promo icons. i've been playing with sound off which didn't help either. case solved
