First off hello and sorry for just jumping on without any introductions. I'm desperately looking for an answer.

Anyways, I recently went back to playing Alien Crossfire after years of not playing the game. After doing some patching and such I finally got it going. I was playing a game recently and I encountered one of the strangest glitches (or atleast I think it's a glitch) that I have ever encountered in the game. Within a span of a turn, all of my colonies and units seemingly dissapeared all at once and I was given a small handful of colony pods and units on another land mass in the game. Furthermore I wasn't given any sort of notification either as to what happened to cause this. This didn't happen to any of the other factions in the game either.

Any ideas as to what happened? I know that there is a great deal of random occurences and events that happen in the game but I have never encountered something like this. I'm at a loss.

Welcome to CFC and the Alpha Centauri forum!

You've encountered a rare and extremely annoying bug. I'm going to guess that at least one of the other factions had been eliminated from the game. What happens is that one of the remaining factions tries to liberate the eliminated faction from the HQ of the faction that performed the elimination. The normal result of this action would be that the eliminated faction respawns and becomes submissive to the faction that freed it. As a result of the bug, your faction respawns on the map with a handful of units and techs. If you were the one who eliminated the faction, you might be able to reload from an earlier save (or autosave) and station one or more probe teams in your HQ (to protect it from the probe action). Otherwise, you just may as well start a new game. Fortunately, the bug is very rare; I've run into only once in my own games over all these years. As far as I know, there is no fix.
