I'm actually still in shock. Decided to knock the difficulty up a notch to Prince after a few wins at Noble, and naturally I'm not doing so hot, very much bottom of the table, lagging behind in tech, size, everything. Then I get this message... I've honestly never seen this before. Maybe I've been mollycoddled too much by playing at a level I can compete at, but... wow.

Someone else has a similar thread with almost the exact same situation. Basically I think you may wish to consider restarting if you're getting it handed to you bad enough for the AI to take pity on you.

Wow.

Oops sorry, didn't see that thread. Can't say I looked too hard though. It's my first go at Prince, didn't get the greatest of starting positions (to my eyes, I'm sure better players than me would probably have been able to make a better go of it). I've been comfortable on Noble for too long, so I'm quite happy to take a whupping, call it a learning experience or whatever. Who knows, I might actually be able to turn it around.

And no, not in anarchy, just overextended my economy for a resource grab and paying the price :crazyeye:

I think if anything it's quite interesting going from being the dominant civ to the wee guy and I'm enjoying it. My fur farm city is finally starting to pay some dividends by the way of tradable resources and research, so I'm back up to 100% science and in profit. I've got a city pumping out longbowmen should a couple of civs follow through with their threats. Had a small fright when my benefactor put a SoD on my borders, but it was just passing through... phew!

I am more surprised that everyone is Conf. except for Cesear who is nothing. In my games if everyone is one religion its an early one (ie Bud or Hind). Is there another continent that founded the others?

Ye never saw it :crazyeye:

But some AI are missionaries freak no?

ive never been gifted a tech. only once but that was on settler, on a raw, unpatched Civ 4

yeah Izzy was on another continent with Brennus, and between the two of them they managed to found all the others

what would be nice is AI telling you what they want in exchange for thier techs.. e.i "gather 1000 more gold and another tech and we'll trade"

that would go the same for thngs like resources or treaties and defensive pacts and embargoes.

I've had that happen when i was doing awful (points-wise) took out the celts but they sucked too, had SERIOUS money problems, this is on emperor tho, but fell way behind in tech (cuz of the economy) i got like 3 techs, did a double take the first time, it was emperor so i expected to lose, but still that was new to me too  never gave me anything to fix my money issues tho...funny that xD

No offence, but where are all your cities? I can't exactly make out the screenshot, but it seems to show you're running 70% science and still need 21 turns for Music? If this is normal speed. then thats 62 turns on marathon (only speed I play). My advice would be to try and expand a lot faster and earlier next time :)

Epic. Like I said, slightly bad starting position, started with tundra to the north, jungle to the south and desert to the east. Couple this with it being my first go at Prince, and I think at that time (of the screenshot) I'd overextended, experimented with civics for the situation and not had it work out. Cut me some slack eh? :P

Anyway small update, I managed to get my house in order and get pretty close tech wise, then when the second biggest civ (JC) decided to declare war on my neighbour (mehmed, who gifted me the tech  ) I declared war on him (mehmed, not JC) too, in order to try and obtain some nice cities. :) Stolen one. :D Unfortunately I forgot about Mehmed's vassal, Hatshepsut, who was dragged in too. Although she hasn't made any moves, she seems rather unkeen to make peace. This may get interesting :D

if you ever get about 1500-3000 gold drag another civ into the war (usually that's what they ask of me, but then again, usually the guy who i make them attack is near the bottom and dropping fast), it can start WW3 if you engineer the countries to decalre war on eachother right

then you can make a land grab and climb to the top at your own speed

that's funny though that they would take pity on a human player, some guy declared war on me once and asked the next turn for peace and to capitulate into me (it was funny becasue he was just under 50% of my stuff, but he never gained independance, and my armies were just activating)

happens all the time when you go for culture wins and only has longbows when AI's are building spaceships.
