Wellington C3C napoleonic pbem

GPS, round 8 should start now.

Nothing happening in the alps.

The tension in the air is thick. After several nations make diplomatic agreements, French line up along Amsterdam to make another attempt. Lines will be drawn and crossed! The city will be mine!! (but I don’t know how to say that in French.)

The British will play their turn tonight and post asap

The British in Amsterdam hurriedly prepare their defences as 2 French armies and a stack of Voltigers approach from the South. The results of this battle will have interesting consequences.

Sweden and Prussia align themselves with the British crown and declare war on the French over their aggressive behaviour.... will this prove costly for the French???? stay tuned.

The British send fast rowboats with Hot Italian Pizza to the Austrian Loveboat currently making another run..... :p

News Flash
The emperors new summer palace is now finished. It has been called the Forbidden Palace as nobody is allowed in without the permission of the Emperor himself. The people in neighbouring cities now work much harder as they feel that much closer to their wonderful emperor.
See what wonderful prosperity peace can bring.

They're already declared war? That's strange, I haven't made any attacks yet.

Austrians be careful. British are known to put bacteria and other diseases in their so called gifts!!

a couple of local gun batteries fired at the French troop Concentrations, with one taking one bar off the French Cavalry Army... (i'm sure that was a waste of ammo!)

The British will respond in surprising ways to this French Pressure..... :mischief:

We are distressed to hear of all this fighting in far-off lands. We just hope it stays there.

Send some 'Turkish delight' to london, and we'd be glad to end hostilities!

Your choice to interpret this as chocolate or harem girls will not affect the outcome

I haven't fired a shot at anyone since I noticed mutual protection pacts have been signed (and I was at peace with those nations at the time). Now, I am at war with Spain?? I had a mutual protection pact with them. I held out one turn so that Prussia can fire shots at me, so that Spain can align itself with me. Something is really strange here because, I am not even getting my 1 turn grace period when my citizens are unhappy.

With the unhappy citizens grace period thing, I can live with that. With Prussia and Sweden declaring war on me before I have attacked Britain, I can live with that. But I can't live with Spain declaring war on me. I held out the last turn and gave up a worker to Prussia so that Spain can be on my side. I need an explanation on this before I play my turn.

And, I think that was an important turn to hold out on too because I noticed a British Troop Transport on its way to Amsterdam when I could have attacked. Also, now the British got a free turn to take the offensive.

Maybe it's because you are already at war with England. So now you are at war with more nations therefore more unhappiness. Whip a few peasants that should do it :)

That's not what I have a problem with. Usually, there is a 1 turn grace period that allows you to correct the unhappiness problem in that city before the city starts to riot. It's something I can work with with a little vigilance so this really isn't my problem. I just added it to sort of say there's more than one weird thing going on here.

The problem is nations, namely Spain, declaring war on me for no apparent reason. Either I don't understand the rules or the rules have somehow changed. This isn't the way it works when I have played C3C singleplayer.

daufoi, just clarifying that other than also signing a mpp with spain, i didn't make them declare on you

i got the pop up at the start of my turn

i thought that you were holding off.....so i was very surprised when all three declared war over 2 turns.

I hope you are not too discouraged..... you'll just have a swedish, prussian and spainish province lol

sorry to double post, but what is happening with the game at present?

Maybe some of the AI's had MPP's with each other. That would explain why they declared war after Spain was dragged in by its MPP with England.
@Daufoi, You could always approach a human player via email to see if you can get some allies. Players may be interested in an excuse to annexe one or more of the AI's. :)

Also I believe that with more than 1 civ suddenly declaring war that it is possible that you would loose the grace period as there would be more unhappiness generated. I'm not certain how it works but have noticed a big change in happiness when that happens.

Spain had MPP with Britain and Prussia but shouldn't be declaring war on me til I fire a shot at either one of them (this is how it normally works). If anything, SPain should be declaring war on Prussia because I sent a worker into their territory and Prussia took him.

I doubt I will be taking most of Europe as James I suggests. My army is strong but not THAT strong. And, to answer his question, I have the game. Even though this is going to leave me at a huge disadvantage, I will play and send it along later today.

A French worker was taken near Milan.

Fresh British Forces arrived in Amsterdam, and 2 Voltigier were killed just south of the city, as British forces took a pounding but did not lose a unit.

The British Government notes the French armies withdrew without firing a shot....
Who will feel the brunt of their rage?????
