Cygni 404 or some such. GRB, Dec 26. At least it will be faster than Y2K.

Ben Bova's new trilogy (loosely a part of his Grand Tour series) is based on the idea that a "death wave" is coming and will hit Earth in 2000 years. Of course the government of Earth just shrugs it off because they'll all be dead long before then.

2000 years wouldn't be so bad. Really, Dec 26 isn't too bad either. Didn't do all that Christmas shopping for nothing. Dunno what a grb would feel like. :dunno: Might want to take a couple aspirins.

As far as science says - we come from stars and will perish into galaxy or remains of Milky way galaxy. Nothing to fuss about. Galaxies die and reappear in cycles.

Certainly if I die tomorrow Dusters, I won't fuss.

I once transferred to a ship undergoing a major overhaul. It was in a drydock and literally full of holes. I was told that we would be leaving for our permanent home port in three months. I laughed.

A couple weeks later there was an official memo put out by the command. It said we would be leaving for Pearl Harbor in three months and we should be sure to have all of our affairs in order for the move. I laughed.

We left for Pearl Harbor ten months to the day after I came on board. The crew had been given a three month notice to be prepared three months before we moved. It was almost word for word identical to the one we got nine months before the move, and also almost word for word identical to the one we got three weeks before the move. This "three month notice" was issued once a month the entire time I was on the boat in the shipyard. Upon investigation I found that it had been issued every month for almost a year before I got there.

Anyone who doesn't get the relevance needs to watch a few more Paul Begley clips.

A stopped clock is correct twice a day. The military also gets things right sometimes. Consider this if you are unconvinced of the dire seriousness of our predicament... The say after Christmas is a M o n d a y . . .

If it reads out in military time the stopped clock is only right once a day.
