What´s my secret project?

any plans to make something along the lines of these guys?

Yep, his boots are unchanged.

This is how he looks now in a low quality render, incl. knee and elbow pads. I thought of making the pads bigger, but that would look probably strange while his is running.

I made him also a bit "thicker", which looks esp. better on the guy on the left of this pic. The right soldier looks a bit "thinner" IMO but it is exactly the same model - must be because of the different perspectives.

Very cool looking. He is really coming together now. :D Try him with slightly bigger knee pads hust to see what it looks like. :) This guy is very, very cool! :goodjob:

Are you planning on doing a soldier with a version of the blue body armor? If you do I think he should have a helmet like this:

But in a deep SWAT blue.

Well, I don´t have planned it especially for the XCOM mod. But since there seem to be much request for Womok´s marine, I could do something like this as seprate unit.

personally I think this guy you are working on now would do fine to fit the bill as a replacement for Womok's marine. But I think it would be cool to see the next step in the X-Com soldier look like the Blue Armor, just toughened up a bit. I could give you some concept art in a couple of days if you are interested. I just need to draw it and set up my new scanner.

Perhaps I should make this current 2nd generation then the 1st generation.

Well, my idea was to let the xcom start with units similar to current infantry unit´s (eg. balou´s modern infantry). I could leave it so, but make my soldier here the first generation that can be researched in the game. The 2nd generation could be these blue-armour-guys, the last would be my soldier in the blue power suit (from the earlier preview).

Since all generations have those mentioned "versions" with different weapons (means every generation brings in fact several different units) I think three generations are ok for the mod.

So in short, yes I´d like to see the blue armour :)

If you are animating with a skeleton BreBro, you should model your characters with their arms straight out to their sides, and then apply the skeleton.

When do you expect the mod to be finshed....

Kal-el - I like your pics :)

I will need a bit time to make the model for this guy, but it´s certainly worth the efforts. I´ll post a preview, once I have one ready.

GreyFox, this model is not modeled with a skeleton. I´m currently not familiar with this method, but maybe I try it in future projetcs. In this model, there is a simpel object hierarchy, but it works well for unit anims ;)

Hey Bebro I'm just curious if you will be using any multi-figure units in this mod.

I don´t think so, because the X-COM originals weren´t games where the player had bigger armies, rather small teams, every soldier/agent was important.

When do you expect the mod to be finshed

I have no deadline set for myself, there are still a number of units to do, and most of the work can only be done on the weekends....;)

Yeah, I'm not familiar with it yet either, but I plan to learn it in Maya, which I have courses in, in my school at the moment.

Today I started using Hierarchies (after numerous attempts at animating a part of my death animation, a friend asked me if 3D Studio don't have Hierarchy like Maya... and then I realized it did... stupid me :))... didn't use that earlier, stupid me, the Help is really "helpful" in 3D studio max... I should start using it more...

I haven't gotten the Personal Armour colored yet, but I did put together this Power Suit. I tried to combine the original X-Com Power Suit with your 3rd Generation Soldier and added a bit of my own imagination to boot.

Here is a close up of the head with a possible color scheme.

and the original X-Com Power Suit:

I tried to retain some of the bulkiness of the original along with a few key features like the large "eye", the antenna, and the rounded edges.

I hope you like it.
