Does anybody exactly know what the AI "see's" at different difficulty levels and what other things it gets other than those already detailed in the difficulty level section of the editor.

ie fog of war, units in cities.

I've noticed that the ai seems to know when I move a land blocking unit even thought it doesn't have a unit close enough to see and this is in the middle ages so no map stealing.

All the same. The AI is all A and it's not even the A in the AI. All it does is react, and nothing changse with the levels.

um tomoyos right this is why computers will never give you that much compietion all you need to know is exactly how they will react (you will see how they react after a while as you see partterns in there movements)to your move (learn) which a computer cant do it all it can do is react if they could learn it would be harder

I guess my question is then that the AI always sees the full map then, it must because it reacts to when I move a blocking unit away.

it is but it isnt as the computer acts on each of your actionsso each movement is single and in no way related to another computer move so what i am saying is that it is like the computer more like doesnt see any of the map but that spot

to give an example
if you were playing another person and you had 3 tanks and they had 8 but you had 20 more a godd five spaces away a human would pull away with there 8 tanks and defend while a computer would ataack like crazy thinking you would have only 3 tanks but then would be screwed while the human would most likely have defended because more defense units would have been devolped

The one real *cheat* in the game: The AI always knows the whole map, including what units are where, and where the pre-defined resources will be discovered.

This is the one single worst thing about the computer. I hate the fact that it can act on these things... it sucks. Too many times Ive seen a computer Civ 'randomly' go after a piece of territory that made no sense until Gunpowder or some such advance. Completely annoying... Way more than the built in computer-map-hack.

In my opinion the map hacking thing could easily be taken care of with a little programing foresight... 'they' could simply make the AI generate moves based on what it has explored, the fog of war, and what it has a map of. It obviously generates it's moves based on knowledge of the entire map.

Of course... it wouldn't be 'Sid'-level without being all knowing... now would it? :D

Actually, in almost all situations, the AI *does* act as if it only knows the map it has explored. One glaring exception is the knowing where the resources will appear. But that has been demonstrated time and again to actually be a weakness: if you see the AI race to grab that worthless Tundra tile, you *know* Oil will be found there later - so you "evict" him from it at earliest opportunity!

ok um u guys seem to think the computer sees your every move weel you are right in the fact that it sees it because u are giving commands to the comp but what u dont seem to understand is that it doesnt use that info to use against u in fact had u read my other post it would be explained how the comp seein ur every move isnt cheap

besides that even if the comp used that info i think it would be better as it would fourmulate a strategy to fight u but they never have any strategy to attacks its mass troops or sparatic attacks

someone should try to make a mod where you just watch the cpu's duke it out and see what the computer really does

I agree with Padma, most of the time the AI civs seem to have to explore the map as well, but they know where the resources will turn up.

Actually, we can use their advantage and turn it into our advantage. For example, put defensive units in all city except your capitol, or a city with a good wonder. Then when the AI is at war with you, he will keep sending units there so all u gotta do is leave offensive units near the undefended city. So stupid the AI.....
