Right now I'm reading Waiting for the Galactic Bus by Parke Godwin. It's a fairly short novel about two members of an almost god-like race who create humanity. In the present day, they realize that if two people who are currently in love, Roy Stride, a vehemently aggressive neo-Nazi, and Charity Stovall, usually nice but unstable and sometimes bitter and frustrated, have a child together, then that child would spell doom for humanity. So they try to prevent that from happening by taking Roy and Charity to Hell, or as they call it, "Below Stairs."
So far it's strange, but funny. I would describe it like a "watered-down," in terms of weirdness and length, Terry Pratchet book - specifically, like the series with Ankh-Morpork in it... can't remember the name right now, but you get the idea.
