What are your modding plans for CIV IV?

I will reduce the unit size. Nothing besides that for the following 12 months. If CIV IV is half as good as C3C, I will be playing happily for the following year without mods. After that, I'll see what I wanted to mod, although any non graphical modding in the game has a potential unbalancing result, and, under my point of view, that could be considered as cheating.

Cheating to win is not fun. If I want to enjoy this game, I should be able to win, but it should be winnable thanks to good strategy. Neither too easy to win games nor games impossible to win are fun to me. :D

I plan to tinker with the AI. Whether this will lead to a mod or even something useful in someone else's mod remains to be seen. :D Given that I'm probably a better programmer than Civ player, I suspect my contributions will be more technical than strategic. :D

Change a religon name, probably Confuscinism, to vbraunism. ;)
Help all those unit creators in figureing out how to make units for the game.
Help with the Civ4 AI project.
Make Trees really big.
Play with the XML.

I will play several games on multiple levels to get a feel for the game.

Then I will change one of the Civs to be the Sith. Plus add Sith as a religion. It would be cool if by that time if someone had modeled something so I could have a Sidious or Maul missionary.

upon thinking about it, i may add culture based techs (as it seems thier are techs devoted to culture) about the history of music; eg, cultureal bonuses for those natiosn that first develop Elvis, the Beatles, Ramones (though the pixies or sex pistols might even better refelct the development of Punk; I'm undecided) and so on.

I used to make civII scenarios all the time (when I still had the time!) and I'd love to get into that again. More than anything, I'd love to make a good couple of cold war-age guerilla warfare scenarios with large detailed maps of single countries/regions, with lots of units capable of quick, mobile attacks .....

I will check out the editor and see how to add new civs.

If it is possible, add Greek Polytheism and Atheism as religions.

Will have to wait and see. I will be more interested in making Civilization the way I feel it should be. I will almost certainly not be making niche changes for fantasy/sci-fi or detailed specialist scenarios.

World war scenarios(1 and 2 maybe third) and lord of the rings maybe new eras: space era, middle age when civ 4 is avaible İ will find more things to add my projects

Well, I have answered before but the post by Dark Khan got me thinking? Is it possible to add new eras?

I think I will mod heavy if I get the hang of it then. In my personal mod now in CIV3 the eras are cluttered with techs, would be nice having several eras instead.

I think I read that they got rid of eras totally.

If they have got rid of eras, do the leaderheads change their costumes through time?

I know, It is a silly and pointless question, but, I was wondering about that.

I kinda like the modern Joan of Arc.

I think that logically, if they got rid of eras, they also got rid of the leaders changing costumes. Unless they change when you get to a certain year.

Obviously graphics will change throughout the game. I can gaurentee you that we won't be seeing straw hut cities in the 1900's, and I would be a little bit suprised if we still saw leaders wearing togas. I wonder if they just meant that the whole era concept is being relegated to graphical changes only, and it is being 'thrown out' in the sense that it isn't going to be a periodic barrier in the tech tree anymore.

Leader appearance could change upon reaching certain techs. Just a thought.

Mods I'd be interested in:

Smaller units/more realistic scale all around.

Terrain - mountain chains rather than solitary rocks.

Single unit w/ multi hit points. Not because I dislike the current 1 unit/hp graphics - I love it! (Though I certainly hope battleships aren't represented similarly.) I just have a scenario in mind in which I want single units (without being just 1 hp.)

Tweak religions. Add religions, add effects/bonuses/penalties per religion (tricky, but doable.) If all missionaries look alike, different units for each religion.

Add civics options. This is the most exciting addition to Civ4, IMO, but I'm sure we'll all feel they're missing a few options.

Diseases. Disasters. Local and worldwide events, both beneficial and detrimental.

Add destructive spy missions, at least the ability to blow up city or terrain improvements.

Scenarios: Mafia/crime scenario (for which I want the single units), and World War Weird (think WW2 meets pulp adventures meets the Jules Verne Civ2 scenario.)

I Have been thinking of Remaking that Classic Scenario too. Oh The Memories.

I hope that as they said it is completely modeable so you can (must) add new eras to your games.Sorry I didn't read your post how careless i am sorry again :(

I'll see if it's possible to modity the topology of maps. Ideally, one would supply the metric and the game would adapt the map to the purposes. I think a game in a klein bottle would be fascinating (if not confusing) ;)
