What causes a modpack to crash?

Could you be more discriptive? Was it a modpack you made? Did you download it? Do you have vanilla Civ3? PTW? Fully patched?
 
I wanted to know the most obvious reasons for a modpack to crash.

I have made a mod (ptw) based on that of Kal-El (DyP) and added lots of units and some resources. All resources and units were tested so it all worked fine.

Still, the game had to crash every time somewhere in the game, RANDOMLY. Sometimes at a certain date, sometimes at some other date.

I dont want a specific answer to this specific problem, just.. What are the most game-crashing events so I can start looking for answers.

Hey I've just created a mod myself, thinking to trial it out on a few friends. Unfortunatly for some very obscure reson I click on my labourers to turn them into entertainers/whatever (cityview screen) and they are all stuck as labourers. Obviously I'm not going to get very far like this, I'm only a few turns into the game and my citizens are all getting narky! Is there something incredibly obvious I've missed?

Also, if you use the files for Worker to make a unit (such as terrorist) is it going to crash every time I get into a fight? Or what?

Somehow the editor seems a little too complicated to use. It takes weeks to work out which files you need to edit on top of using the editor itself.
 
I can tell you what doesnt crash the game, i have a mod with the following changes, Civ 3 1.29 f ( i dont like extension pack for any game).


1.- I reduce defensive value for city against bombing from 16 to 4

2.-I had lethal sea and land bombardement for destroyer,battleshipe,artillery,bomber,stealth bomber,radar artillery, aegis cruiser.

3.- Radar artillery move 2 insteed of 1

4.- Cruise missile got tactical missile flag and aegis cruiser can carry 4 tactical missile.

This is the regular mod i play with, but i get an extra mod in wich i gave the industrial trait to german, they rock i tell you.

I never had a game crash.
