What cheat mode units do you give yourself?

I'm sure it's happened to you all> you get a bad start and soon the AI is all over you. There's now way you'll be able to win and you're getting mighty pissed with the audacious emmisaries. Like a human being they really get under my skin! I want them to suffer! Well, I whip out 1 vet stealth fighter. Then -oh how the mighty have fallen- they start to beg for ceasefires.
Quite satisfying results for a lost game.

I wouldn't bother with a stealth fighter if I was going to give myself a bonus unit. The fact that they have to return to base at the end of every turn means that they aren't ideal for a protracted campaign. What use are stealths without an aircraft carrier for overseas battles? I'd rather have a tank because the movement of 3 and the high defence and attack figures ensure that they'll roll over the enemy and you can stick it on a trireme to continue the carnage abroad. :goodjob:
Mind you, with a PSX version of Civ 2 it is impossible for me to use the cheat mode to gift myself units or anything else apart from cash. (You can get almost the max amount of gold by changing the name of one of your cities to _CasH and holding down L1 when inputting the H - I think this is right but I haven't done it since my first game :o). ;)

When the game is a wipeout early, I usually build a bunch of tanks and destroy the AI! If it was a really, really, REALLY BAD start, I will create a bunch of nukes and blow up everything in site just to relieve the frustration.

Stealth fighters clear the way for my horsemen. They can take out anything within 7 sqaures of my cites, further if i can send a ground unit to capture. I think they're pretty cool, that nuke strategy sounds fun too. :P

What I've done on a few occasions is start at the outset with a few techs -- Fundy, Esp, maybe Eng & Refridge. Usually give myself one boat's worth of folks, say 6-8 engineers, maybe a spy or two. Change to a fundy gov't, build a few fanatics & stay calm. Have a little exploring, lots of quiet intensive ground development -- pass a couple of hours away & try it again with a new start another time. Very non confrontational & non violent. :)

Sorry to disappoint, AOA, but I've never gifted myself a unit with cheat mode, although it is frustrating to finish a game that you know is lost (or used to be :D , I usually win).

The only way that I have utilized cheat mode is to remove an opponent when I am hopelessly behind. :skull: But I never save the game.

Sort of like catching a fish :fish: then throwing it back I suppose.

I understood your statement to mean the game was lost and you activated the cheat mode to get revenge on the AI before quiting. To clarify matters, if the game continues, I do not use the cheat mode, If you are going to "carry on" with the game, its kind of meaningless to cheat!
