Hey guys, as you all know long time C3C player currently unable to play. But what playing styles, strategies or tips which apply to C3C still apply for Civ4? I just wanna minimise the amount of new game I have to learn in order to win and hence enjoy a game.

Thanks

the changes are to many- but city site selection is about the same in so far as resources.

Lots of workers and cities still do, but city maintenance goes up for each city so you need some key techs to be able to keep expanding. (i lost horribly my first game in Civ IV because of not knowing that :p) So do 4-5 cities max before getting Code of Laws (for courthouses) or Currency (+1 trade route). (this is a rule of thumb, great land or key wonders like Great Lighthouse, Temple of Artemis can do the same job)

Else you just need to learn to use cottages, commerce is more advanced in Civ IV. I don't remember if trade routes were in Civ 3? Didn't notice them at least, but the wonders i mentioned affects them and they provide a great boost to your commerce that isn't as noticeable as gold and stuff for instance ;)
(So early roading between cities is important too)
