Post-grad chemical engineering dude here, specializing in membranes, polymer composites, and the like. I work on membranes for water desalination, amongst other things. It's really not that exciting.
Anyone else surprised we have so many science, engineering, and computer guys here as opposed to, you know, history and social science types?
For a couple of years I sold water filtration. I think R.O. membranes are awesome!
Maybe your work itself isn't that exciting, but I've run across people whose water got contaminated by nitrates and what not. Water quality is something we take for granted. We don't know what we're missing until our water quality or our health is gone.
It makes a difference in people's lives.
