What do you know about DRM?

Hi everyone,

My question is regarding the microsoft Digital Rights Management mechanism a implemented in Windows Media Player for WMA files.

I've been purchasing songs lately from a Canadian based online music store and have found that my collection is growing and I'm becoming addicted to these $1 songs.

However I have some concerns about the restrictions of DRM... My biggest concern is "What happens if I decide to buy a new computer and toss this one in the garbage?" Do I have any means of moving these songs and licenses to a new machine?

Windows Media player gives you the ability to "export licenses" so I'm pretty sure that if I ever do a format and reinstall of THIS PC I'll be ok... but this thing is getting dated and I see a new machine in my near future.. Will the licenses (and the songs) function on this new machine or am I screwed out of my LEGALLY aquired songs.

As a last resort I have the ability to burn these to CD as audio format and then rip them to unrestricted MP3 format but I'd rather keep them as they are quite frankly...

Thanks for any advice...
