What do you obsess about?

@SJ Frank: Yeah, I have to control my workers too. I don't trust the pooter to control them for me.

@Shadowfax: Sheesh, I thought I was settler-obsessed. :D

@RandomInsanity: I don't need railroad on every tile, though every city must have railroad on every tile in its 21-tile region, and be connected to all its neighbors--so I guess I'll take second place?

@ everyone: Okay, so I guess I'm a more obsessive player than I thought I was.

I will not obsess I will not obsess I will not obsess I will not obsess I will not obsess . . .

- Make improvements in ALL squares, even if not "reachable" by any city

- Group slaves by nationalities. Group them in at least in groups of 3 but ideally 4.

- No regular ground troops... not even King units... if the King is not veteran is better not to have an empire!

- Build a temple or library in each city

- Building AT LEAST 1 wonder

- Garrisson all cities with at least 1 unit

- Don't fortify cavalry/tanks in cities (this is more to have them "visible" than a real obsession)

- checking daily CFC for new scenarios

I usually play on Continents 60% water, either large or huge maps, and I'm always obsessed with being the only civ alive on my continent. I usually won't step foot onto the other continent until this has been achieved.

-Every tile in every city radius must be railroaded and improved, even if the city will never grow beyond size two.

-All units must be as upgraded as possible as soon as possible. No pikemen defending unreachable cities when muskets or riflemen are available, or infantry when MI are, even if the game has already been basically decided.

- No slave workers if possible. They're too slow. At my first opportunity, I'll join them to a city and wait for my culture to convert them to whatever I am.

true they are slow but free - late in the game I tend to join all of my native workers and keep a labor force of slaves only

All of my ships must be named.

Any elite unit that generates a Military Great Leader, gets named Groo and is assigned a Roman numeral. So I have Groo I, then Groo II, then Groo III etc. I normally get to Groo V or Groo VI in an average game (std map, Emperor dif, over by start of ). Extremely rare to get upto Groo X. I try to put the newly named unit into any newly created army, but I do not obsess about that.

Every unit must be upgraded to its highest-possible incarnation. Those 5 veteran archers I have lying around? They must be longbowmen! :twitch:

I do this too. :goodjob: I also do my best to ensure they live the battle and return to the palace; so I can have Cortez I - VII on display in my capitol.

getting to Philo first for the free tech.

I never said it made sense, just that I obsess about it. ;)

Plus, money's rarely a problem for me.

1. my entire military must be veteran
>certainly of course.

2. fortifying a unit on every resource in my territory
> why would i ?

3. controlling every square inch of my core continent
>not really, just dominiation victory etc...

4. exploring every single black tile on the map
>Iknow how water looks

5. embassies
>Not obsessed, but i'll build them with everyone.

6. coastal fortresses (yes, call me crazy)
>What are those?

Wonders I must have;
Pyramids
Temple of Artemitis
Smith Trading Company*
Leonardo's Da Vinci Workshop
Hoover Dam*
The Internet

The two with the stars are ones that I will kill for. Plus every city must have a temple and university and stock exchange. Wont build anything if i dont have those (unless in an emergency of course)

- Destroying the French wherever they may be hiding > relentlessly, every game
- Racing for Cavalry
- Racing for armor
- 'Art of War'; 'Magellen's Voyage'; 'Manhatten Project'; all if possible
- If playing German, I must number every Panzer unit, sick obsession, got into the 300s once...
- Cleansing the home continent of any other civs asap
- Establishing footholds on all neighboring shores in my 'sphere of influence' according to my own dilusions
