What do you think of Gandhi?

I'd vote option 5, but it's YOUR question!

Really good. Spiritual is awesome. PHI is never weak. No matter what the situation is, you'll always want a GP Farm and PHI helps get you GPs faster and gets you a couple more per game.

Fast Worker is awesome. 1 extra move = start improving on same turn as the move = a lot more worker turns over the course of the game.

Mausoleum is an okay UB. As has been said already, +2:) is never a bad thing. But given it's rather late tech requirement (Constitution), it isn't anything amazing.

If the UB came in the classical era or something, he might have gotten "the Best" rating. As of now, he's just really good.

I voted really good, because I don't think there is the best leader, there is only personal preference.
But his traits are great synergy and with organized are top tier in my opinion. With Gandhi you have an option to start small and slow, since SE can keep you up and then once you get more options in civics, build highly promoted army and run over everybody. No need for extreme ReXing, but should you decide that or you just want to rush someone, you have those Fast Workers to build the infrastructure.
So, if the leader gives you option to play as the builder (and go for Cultural, like Gandhi AI often does) or warmonger (read Police State, Vassalage, OR) and you can specialize in SE or EE or any other E:lol: I have no doubt that he is really, really good.

Very Good.
I have probably used Ghandi in 80% of my games. I like his traits and as allready mentioned, the UU is excellent.

I wouldn't rate spiritual "Awesome", more of "Not Bad" I never like anarchy but other than that, x2 temple is decent if you have a SR. I can respect the fact that you like though, if you have an SR it really helps. Not my play style.

The power of spiritual is that you can abuse civic changes to switch between war and peace civics as well as flip flopping between caste and slavery.

It's also good when AIs ask you to switch civics/religions (do it for 5 turns then switch back) so is very strong for diplo wins.

Bingo. And if you're playing marathon, SPI is absolutely awesome. Switching 4 civics in one shot with no anarchy and then switching back 10-15 turns later is a huge boon. You can whip/draft a HUGE army and be right back to teching.

Yeah, you are right. You do still have to wait in-beetween civic changes.
No doubt, but if you're switching civics, there's probably something you want to get done so I delegate the waiting period as time to get stuff done :D

You can switch to nationhood or vassalage and slavery/theocracy when you have a load of units 1 turn away from completion filling your production queues, then change back.

Lately, I've been whipping/drafting en masse. To the point where i'll be at .7 someones power, then whip/draft, and be at 1.5. When you switch back to Rep/Caste/Bureaucracy/Pac, you continue to tech like a crazy person (or recover your economy from all the ). Insta-army.

There is still a 5-turn delay (on Marathon) mind you, but the lack of Anarchy is definitely nice.

Once you go Spiritual, you don't go back...iritual.

me and ghandi allways seem to discover the OPISITE RELIGION and spawn where our borders can cross..
this has posed... problems...
mainly i dont think me and ghandi ever stayed allys...
i ussually convert someone else to me and launch a 2 sided assult on him

Ghandi is my favourite leader, easily one of the better trait combos. Spiritual is quite possibly the strongest trait if your happy to put the micromanagement into it (imo it is the strongest :p).

I find him as an AI.... either a blessing or a curse. If hes nearby then he can be considered to be free land, just take it before anyone else! Its nice that you can demand tribute from him without a diplo penalty and he will still trade techs at Furious , but both these also apply to other AIs so its a double edged sword.
The absolute most annoying thing about him is that if left alone (not on same continent/not a neighbour etc) he almost always vassalizes to the strongest civ in any given game and then makes a run on Culture

depends on the map. sometimes id rate him weak and other times really good like with stone in the bfc.

Jails are an instant source of EP and an espionage multiplier...if you expanded to be large getting these in #'s will keep you at tech parity almost no matter what else you do...

A courthouse in every city is enough EPs for me in my games.

If I want +2 :), Ball Court or Hammam is better. Even CHA trait.

Jails also come too late compared to the others.

I've gone back. For me spiritual's only good thing is the lack of anarchy.

I don't think I've ever actually played against Gandhi, but playing against him, he always seems to be a pretty good tech monger. Although he can be a bit weak, militarily. But he is always up near the top, I find.

......So you've never played against him, but you have experience of playing against him?

For me, I've never played Gandhi, or even India. I do have experience crushing him though. Near the top with a conspicous military disadvantage? Target #1.

Cheap temples for :) and religious economy? No anarchy is a big boon too, though. You can run cycles of heavy research/gold followed by heavy unit building/whipping/drafting and then back again without sacrificing turns.
