what does FW/MGE mean?

hello, i wanted to download a scenario but it says you must have FW/MGE

what does this mean?

Means Fantastic Worlds and Multiplayer Gold Edition, two add-ons with expanded scenario capabilities over the original CivII. You can upgrade your classic version of CivII using Cedric Greenes MGE patch, available from the downloads. Using that you can play most scenarios around.

ok thanks. does the MGE patch also cover fantastic worlds or do i need to go somewhere else to get that.

With MGE, you can read in FW scenarios. FYI, it doesn't work the other way around. FW cannot read MGE scenarios. Many scenario makers create scenarios with FW so that it can be played with FW or MGE, because not everyone has both FW and MGE.
